Has anyone noticed a change in award availability DOH-SYD this week?
I am travelling with just a phone so can’t check.

Thanks

I haven't seen any recent availibility into Oz apart from Y into Adelaide. However a Platinum FF friend is obviously seeing availibility. Judging on a recent chat with a Travel Agent Qatar monitors its loads pretty thoroughly too.

No it depends on your status. Apologies for my poor spelling in previous reply.
Sounds like those of us with no status (me!) don't see QR flights in and out of Sydney anymore? We were very lucky to get the SYD to LHR flight in business on QR. If things don't change in the next week then we will be flying home on Singapore Airlines.

I am WP and have never seen QR flights over the period July and August into and out of Adelaide. So it’s not necessarily a status thing.

Looks like there has been no change on this issue.
I am just back from the UK yesterday on a Y flight on Cathay - determined to never do it again!!!
So my dates came up today and nothing into Oz, but I booked Istanbul - Doha - Singapore that’s as close to home as I could get - but it is a q suites flight !!

I will keep looking - but at least it’s something we will stopover in SIN -and hopefully pickup an award flight to SYD.
I actually hope an Emirates flight comes up but their release date is further away and I thought I should secure something now.

Nothing out of Doha into Oz for a few weeks now.

We booked our return flight from Frankfurt to Syd on Singapore Airlines in business. Will be fun to try Qatar on the way to London and Singapore on the way home. At least they are both in business. I now have 600 velocity points, that's how tight it was haha! Can you book Singapore to Sydney on SIA with Velocity or do you not have enough points? Maybe the Qantas or BA Singapore to SYD will be available?

I don’t have any velocity points.
Worse case scenario we will stopover one or two nights and I will pay for an economy flight.
At least we will have 3/4 of our trip in business and only 7hours in Y - if I sit around waiting for a better option the whole lot will be in paid economy and I will have 350,000 useless QF points -
But I will make sure it is a daytime flight, that was my biggest mistake this trip, can do economy if I am not trying to sleep.

Do you have enough points to fly business Singapore to Oz? Hopefully you can book using Qantas or BA, not sure who else flies direct from Singapore. I think BA is a little easier to book, maybe do a night or so in Singapore if the flights are not on the same ticket :)

At least you got most of the way home on Qatar!

Update - secured biz class on BA to get home.
Didn’t expect anything to come up so I had used a bunch of points to get us to Perth for our outgoing flight so had to buy top up points which pains me to say.

Not my ideal plan but we will have three nights in Singapore and three nights in Perth - haven’t been to either of those cities - so it’s a nice extension to my trip.

I had warned DH to arrange 5weeks off work, even though we were only planning to be away for four, giving us a bit of leeway to secure flights.

Looks like we will be using every one of those days!!

Also hope that the situation in Turkey doesn’t escalate

Another update from me.
Just curious, I have noticed that SYD-DOH flights have been available again this last few days. (I have no points, but always planning ahead!! )
However i also noticed i had inadvertently set my search for 1 adult, and when i changed it to two, nothing was available. They may only be releasing one seat, I wonder if this was the case the whole time?

Anyone tried searching for a single traveller?

Too late now - but I would have put hubby and I on the two flights out of Sydney - one would have to wait for 5hours in Doha for the other to catch up - but we could have lived with that.

I've tried for 1 pax, no luck. The dates I was looking at was September 20.

Gday

I have noticed that when the tickets are released there only seems to be one ticket available on each flight. That is all Australian ports. That wont suit most people.

Pele.

Actually when searching for award seats on any airline (OW or *A) using various airline sites, I always search for 1 seat even though I really want 2. If one shows up (some sites (e.g. BA) show how many seats are available (even when searching for 2) I then search for 2. If I can't get 2 on the same flight Mr LL and I will consider flying on separate flights as long as we arrive on the same day.

It's better than the zero seats that we're available for a while there, but yes not ideal for most!
