QR Business Class lounge in Doha utterly appalling

Recently flew CBR-CDG with 8 hour layover overnight in Doha
Found the QR Business Class lounge utterly appalling.
Cold, cavernous and very noisy (no wall between it and the rest of the terminal).
Uncomfortable seats.
Sleeping pods all full (of course)
Showers ok but no hair dryers!
Food options truly execrable.
Just awful.

Of course 8 hours in any lounge might get trying. Did you try your luck in the concourse, or suffer the entire time in the horrid lounge?

This isn’t the Qatar Al Mourjhan lounge but the One World One which I’ve heard is not all that great. At least, I think so. Al Mourjhan is huge and located on the floor above and is very quiet.

Actually it was. I defy anyone to find it comfortable. It was very cold, the seats are really uncomfortable, and it was very noisy, at least until about 2 in the morning.

You may be right - I was just trying to associate what they’ve posted with what I’ve experienced so assumed it wasn’t the same lounge?

Oh ok. Then my experience was not the same. It’s always been very quiet when I’ve been there and it’s located above the terminal so never heard any noise. Chairs were fine for us so I dunno.

Consider yourself defied . If you don't like the general chairs there's always the nice chairs in the Biz section.

Ive used the lounge many times, and while it's not the very best J lounge, it's along, long way from being the worst, or, in general, 'bad'. YMMV, and apparently did.

It was damn cold in the lounge, the seats are low and uncomfortable (no arms), it was unambiguously noisy and the only food was stuff that had been sitting around for several hours and was really cold, dry and disgusting. Oh and i dont think needing a hair dryer is excessively demanding. But perhaps you're just an old bald guy

Sorry, @clementine6 for the facetiousness, but your experience is just so out of whack with any of my visits to that lounge (more than a dozen), obviously Pushka's and I know others (from the many Trip Reports that have mentioned it), that while I don't doubt you didn't enjoy yourself, I really had to doubt whether you were serious.

Even when I visited the lounge at Ramadan, it was OK.

But each to their own; there are plenty of Business lounges I've panned. (but maybe not to your extent ).

I can certainly relate to many of the points raised by the OP and also think this lounge is overrated. Maybe a bit unfair on the food options, pretty bland in my opinion but usually fresh. I just think it is too big and impersonal, OK for a quick drink and bite to eat but long layovers especially overnight can be a drag

I think the Al Mourjan lounge is a little bit overrated but it still happens to be one of the best business class lounges I've visited. In fact, it could even be that a first-timer might not know the best place to situate themselves given the sheer size of the lounge and thus may end up with a sub-optimal experience. It's so big that I actually got sweaty walking around just to explore every part of it.

Something can be overrated and still be excellent. Though one material downside of my visit was that I had to wait over 30min for a shower - 'twas the morning peak, unfortunately.

Out of curiosity @clementine6, what are some examples of stellar lounges for you? Genuinely curious.

Been through that lounge many times, never had an issue with the noise, showers nor food. As previously said, even during Ramadan we didn't have any issues. If they are not being used by families at the time, there is an area where there are smallish "rooms" with couches and TVs. That's where we tend to head.

Anyway, your experience is yours and of course everyone's expectations are different.

I had a 13+ hour layover at DOH back in January and spent it in the Business Class lounge. It was jam packed upon arrival at 06:00 and was empty by about 9 ish and remained relatively empty for most of the day.

I managed to grab a day bed but the noise from the concourse was annoying at times. I think there is a children's play area on the concourse that is adjacent to the day bed area in the lounge.

The food was OK but not great.

As lounges go I thought it was OK.

If the former, I'd completely agree, it's a terrible space. If the latter, well, that's where there's a debate.

No, that was my first question and it’s definitely Al Mourjhan. That’s why there’s the following debate.

The Business Class lounge is definitely not cavernous, unlike Al Mourjan.

Not sure where the OP ate but there are two eating areas in Al Mourjan.
The smaller area on the main level at the far end which does freshly made sandwiches mostly.
The larger area up the spiral staircase which has a buffet, bar and a limited ala carte menu (unless alacarte is no longer?)
Its not the QF or CX First lounges but I can't think of many Business Class lounges that provide a better selection.

Its got a wide variety of seating options, though maybe OP was just disappointed the sleeping pods were full but can't imagine it remained that way for the entire 8 hours
