Just had a look at it and the fare is 17,865 NOK (approx AUD 2,815 + conversion charges). Was tempted to buy it, but it only delivers 140 QF SC in total. Quite poor really for the distance travelled. By comparison, the ticket I recently bought on UL for $2079, BKK-FCO-BKK returns 360 SC.

I will think you'll find the QF calculator hasn't caught up with the yet-again revised QR earn rates. I get 300SC's return (assuming Oslo is classified as Western Europe).

Just out of interest - is that 140SCs at the revised levels where business class is now treated as business class, rather than economy?

(edited: I see Comoman addressed this already)

Oslo is northern europe but it is still 300 SC's

Get amongst it, i say. The a359 is a top product and QF positioning flights are on sale.

That may be so, but the Qantas online calculator came up with 140 SC's for a trip in June 2016.

Does that mean there is an error with the QF calculator? Heaven forbid!

Might actually be a better run for BA TPs, but I haven't checked the BA calculator for a while.

We are speculating that is the case. Previously (last month or so) the QR/MH earn rates were downgraded massively. I'm assuming a stink was kicked up somewhere so QF has to back track a little but the calculator hasn't caught up.

If in doubt maybe call QFF to confirm either way?

Just spoke to QFF and they confirmed that the number of SC's for this trip would be 300 (as per the table).

They also said that the online calculator was just for general guidance and should not be taken as definitive. Worth noting.

Indeed.

As per the QF points calculator page - the tables are indicated as the definitive source:

Important Information:

*Qantas Points and Status Credits (where applicable) are earned on eligible flights with that airline's flight number on your ticket. Qantas Points and Status Credits may not be earned on some Fare Types and booking classes. For full details, see terms and conditions and the Airline Earning Tables for details on the conditions for the applicable airline.

For an International booking which includes a Domestic Economy Saver Segment, select "Discount Economy" to calculate the Qantas Points earned on that Segment.

This calculator should be used as a guide only and may not represent available flight schedules or cabin availability.
Qantas Points and Status Credits are not earned on all flights or routes. Find out more.

The results displayed are based on direct flights for the airline you have chosen (where the airline is the marketing and the operating carrier). For more information see the Qantas Frequent Flyer program terms and conditions.
