Winter time and I head north to work.Mackay-another fluorovest town where even the women wear fluoro vests. The mines have obviously picked up since I was last here 12 months ago.The white 4WD utes with numbers on the side are everywhere again.
On this occasion I am being put up at the Quest aparments in the CBD.It has been opened less than a year.I am in a 1 bedroom apartment-the BAR is $215-expensive as is Mackay in general. It does have a full kitchen plus a washer and dryer. So I am able to cook up my curries!
A few pics of the room-

Not much room in the bedroom and the bed is 2 singles pushed together.

Note the small TV tucked away behind the fridge-reception is not great.

The other side of the main room. The sofa converts to a bed.

And a desk in the hallway.

A typical bathroom-little room on the vanity for your gear, small tub made worse by the fixed screen and taps right where you sit.

And a washer and dryer also in the bathroom.
So OK for my needs with a 3 week work stay. Most here seem to be for work.Doing Dummy bookings seems often booked out Mon-Friday.Not the greatest if on vacation-in CBD,no views.Would say the Clarion at the Marina would be much better for that. But most would probably just be driving through so a cheap motel on highway would be OK.

Many thanks for the report, drron. I go to Mackay every now and then for work, but usually stay at the Shakespeare. Might give this a go.

Cheers,
Mat.

From my experience the Quest apartments are generally good value where ever you go.

Its been a while but the ocean international is my pick if I really have to stay in Mackay, the creme brulee in the restaurant makes all the difference ;)
