Hi everyone
Can someone please educate me about the various Avios programs and whether I am eligible as an Australian to sign up for any of the Avious programs?
My interest stems from the capacity to redeem Avios for rail trips. So they are a useful currency.
I understand from my research that Australians could not join BAs Executive Club as of last year. Has this changed?

Also does the same restriction apply to iberias Avios program? Or to other programs that deal in Avios?
And if one can join Iberias program can the Avios be used for all the same rewards as on BAs program?

There is nothing stopping Australians joining BA Exec club, per se, but you cannot register your membership at an address in Australia or the SW Pacific (NZ, Fiji, etc). If you have relatives or friends outside Australia/NZ you can use their address. Failing that, typos's have been known to work, with mail even getting through to Australia from a very similarly spelt country. ;) The latter is probably OK if only relying on it for accruing modest amounts of points, but not for status or larger amounts of points.

Best if you have family or good friends living OS.I am lucky with my sister living in the UK.
I have found that for the travel we do it is easier for me to get status on BA than QF-though one reason is I do not like to travel on QFi.So for this travel year I will get to ~2200 TPs but mrsdrron with 4 extra QF domestic sectors will get to 1445 SCs.Next year I think we will both be crediting to BA.
