Question about status credits

I came across to Virgin on the Discover Gold promotion and haven't still quite got my head around how status credits work here.

I'll pass my review date with over 2,000 SCs - at least 1200 more than are required to retain platinum.

Does this mean that if I then complete 8 eligible sectors before these expire then I will automatically qualify for platinum for another year? If not, what does it mean?

Requaification starts on the 365 days from your review date.

You will need 8 eligible segments and 800 SC from that date.

In the meantime I presume you have gifted someone status.

Check in your Velocity app as it should show below the circle how many flights you’ve done on VA codes.

A friend of mine has a similar problem where he travels regularly for work on EY/SQ in business but struggles to get the 8 VA flights. So I told him to go to Ballina a few times!
