Question - Lounge access prior to international connection

Hi all,

I am flying SQ out of Melbourne to Singapore at the end of the month. I understand there are no international lounges operating, and that VA has temporarily removed the ability to visit lounges on arrival.

Will I be able to access the Dom VA lounge in Melbourne after arriving from Canberra traveling J on VA and before connecting (same itinerary) to SQ traveling in J?

I think I am being optimistic but with such a long connection in MEL, I thought I'd refer to people smarter than me. I am VA gold also but I don't believe that will add any help.

Tough one!

I doubt it, even if the lounge is open (it is closing after this evening due to Vic lockdown).

There is no harm in pleasantly trying, but if rebuffed pleasantly thank them and move on.

Another option is the Marhaba Lounge through international security. I believe this is the only international lounge open anywhere in Australia although it seems to have closed for this 5-day lockdown.

It's a priority pass lounge or you can buy 4 hours access for $65. I'm unsure about Singapore Airlines but Emirates has actually made the Marhaba lounge their contract lounge in Melbourne and gives Gold/Plat/Business/First on EK access, maybe Singapore Airlines has done the same?

Marhaba at MEL has never been a Priority Pass lounge. Plaza Premium is (as is the Rex Lounge at T4), but I suspect both will have been closed since last year.
