This is probably not entirely the right thing to do but....

Have you ever gotten into the qantas lounge when you were flying some other non oneworld?

I am flying MH next week and such a shame they havent joined oneworld yet....... :(

Maybe i just sit outside and beg lots and lots

I remember the good old days (when QF shares where $5.00/share) when you could get into the QP when flying any airline. But that was "enhanced" and now you have to beg.

Never tried but personally I wouldn't bother. The F Lounge is good but the embarrassment of the inevitable knockback would be far worse IMHO
Enjoy shopping and dining with the great travelling public. I'm sure it can't be that bad, after all I used to be one of them

We flew MH last month and considered it but agree, just couldn't quite deal with the embarrassment of a knock back

LOL yea very true... but on the other hand, its a late flight, maybe not many people around ;)

Don't bother trying, it just wont work.
Recently a person tried to enter the QF J lounge SYD, and had a pass which expired in 2009, he tried to enter and absolutly lost his **** when told that he can't!

As all of us have been. The 'lounge' experience is not the be all and end all of traveling. I really enjoy observing the flow of unique people through the terminal I'm in at that particular point in time.

When I wanted lounge access I made sure I had lounge access.

I never would leave it to the whim of the LD (who is only doing their job).

Posted on a wing and a prayer ...

This is me in 3 weeks....I won't beg:shock:...with the money saved on 5 economy airfares on MH between Syd-Kul, I will join the long Q to check in, maybe have a bite to eat in the pre immigration food court, use my unused QF issued express passes to get through immigration quickly, buy a newspaper airside to save the GST, sit quietly somewhere near a power point and surf the net on my Ipad, tethered to my 3G smartphone, and board with the great unwashed....of course, if MH was part of OW, the story would be quite different...:p

Maybe if i use both the QC and WP card at the normal lounge, i might have a better chance :D

Oooh you know one thing that I miss about the time before I had F lounge access is the xiao long bao from China Grand. You know the Chinese restaurant airside - in fact just past the QF lounge stairs? Their XLB are delicious. I could go one right now. If I was going to be taking a non QF-group or non OW flight, I'd be all over China Grand while waiting to board my flight.

I got knocked back at SYD F lounge last year. Booked classic award on QF website to Vanuatu. Ticket showed QF codeshare flight number, but boarding pass only had Air Van flight number.

Begged and begged and begged but i lost. So i booked an award on QF website with QF points on an available QF codeshare to get F Lounge, and i got screwed over by QF... Miserably!!

I walked past that on the way to the J lounge. Didn't have time to dine there but looked great!

Anyone who is prepared to "beg" to get into a lounge when they're not entitled to access is someone with no self-respect, yet an elevated sense of entitlement!

Freeloaders stay out!

I would be complaining and requesting compensation from Qantas.

If you book a QF flight number, you are entitled to access (irrespective of what the BP shows) - this was clarified on the web site about a year ago.
Did you have a printout of your original e-ticket with you?

No serfty, it was a trip with 16 people and in the rush to pack with the kids hovering i neglected to. My loss!

I was very disappointed. But QF allowed me to guest 4 people into the normal QF J lounge, so all was not lost. Although i had been talking up the F lounge so much that some of them told me that i was clearly 'dreaming' !!

Even then you would have issues getting in as you are not travelling Oneworld.

FWIW I have managed to take a guest into BKK Business Lounge when I was flying Qantas and he was flying Thai or SQ. Ask nicely with nothing to lose and it was granted.

Wish I could help and I am always looking for someone to guest into the lounges....

Maybe i need to direct my begging lots and lots at you :P.

Really asking this question out of interest and seeing other people's experience. I can live without lounge for a couple of hours LOL.
