Any Seat Award? When? Tomorrow? How about SYD-CBR in business class flying out at 17:25 and returning at 19:40?

Will earn 80 SCs and 2,500 QFF points and requires 41,138 QFF points or 32,000 QFF points and AUD118.44 for Any Seat Award.

JohnK, does one see booking on QF profile and print off boarding pass for both sectors? Without check in luggage and same day quick turnaround, would be simple and easy. Another thing: Business lounge in Sydney and Canberra?

I did this today. I booked the seats late last night and then did online check in (there was a delay of 30 minutes or so before I could OLCI).

Business lounge in Melbourne (in your case Sydney). I don't think there was one in Canberra. In fact I thought the lounge in CBR was pretty basic. Maybe they put all the money into the CL?

That answers main concern. Canberra does indeed have business lounge in addition to those in Sydney Melbourne and Brisbane. I just got that from QF website. Should have checked that out earlier.

BTW, the value per point seems to be about 1.3 cents going by what you paid in cash and the fewer points it cost you.

All good.

Easiest is to fly Business class SYD-xCBR-SYD; that's 40 SC each way for around $700.

Agree if time is the issue.

LAN J return for around same price can nett you 160SC, but there are issues of an OMG departure AKL and the usual LAN issues like turning up etc?

I did this one weekend and ended up being shifted to ANZ/QF - so for VFM in J it was all there!!!!!

I believe LAN have resumed to usual schedules now the earthquake issues have been addressed.

Indeed I believe CBR has the best of all the J lounges, service is far more personalised and they often call the flights in person

I obviously didn't look hard enough. In fact, I didn't look at all but didn't see anything obvious.

Mind you, I was only there for 20 minutes so no great loss.

The J lounge is up the ramp from the main gate area and pretty good as lounges go. ;)

I have not booked an any seat award yet but I am guessing it is the same as a Classic award.

It is indeed good to read about the creative use of any seat rewards :!: :D
Hopefully we shall have some time to discuss these in Adelaide shortly....

Well folks, papa grabbed Gold yesterday. Trips posted by evening. 5h15m from home, to home. Syd-Cbr-Syd for 41138 points, got 80 SCs as well as 2x1250 points. Flight time 32 min to Cbr, 30 min back. He told me he liked the business lounge in Sydney...bigger, seemed cleaner and less crowded. Additional cost was $52 for car parking at Syd airport.
