March 10 - We Can fly Qantas - Mel - LAX direct for $1328 on their cheapest fare on the A380, do you know if I get FF points and Sc's? think the luggage allowance is 2 x 23 kilos

V Australia for $1101 or $1201 but not a member so no gain there but have heard good things about them.

or HA for $1459 with a stop over in Honolulu on the way back (though we plan to be there in November 2010 anyway) 2 x 32 kilo baggage allowance - disadvantage here is that it is via Sydney

Can someone advise which is the best seat pitch or any other advantages

I know HA offer ODU's if available, do V Australia?
thank you

UA & Air NZ are other options

A NB travelling MEL/LAX rt on Qantas can earn from 15,846 QFF points and 90 SCs.

I've found HA's product while quite old, can be quite good for a north american carrier. Had both good and bad service experiences. The only thing going for this option would be the stop in HNL, but flying via SYD is always a pain. Note you can earn velocity points.

The VA/QF product is similar at the end of the day, only major difference being the FF program.

Not sure if UA offer in seat IFE yet on trans-pac. Air NZ is as good as VA/QF, but of course is *A.

UA only operates 744's to Oz.. and they have no individual IFE in Y.. and no plans to install any on those aircraft...

NZ has better seat pitch (on the 744 ex-AKL anyway) and excellent AVOD but, as already pointed out.. is *A.

UA of course do offer Upgrades for Cash on a space available basis..last info I've seen was that OZ-USA that would run about AUD$1000... might be a bit less now with the exchange rate as it is???

It is interesting how differing market dictate differing prices.

Currently one can book upgradeable fares AirNZ LAX-MEL/SYD return via AKL each way for USD900(May) or USD1100 (Mar-Apr, June).

Some option even less expensive.
