Hi all.
Need your help with a quick status run. need to complete by end of this month for 300 pts to get to gold. Any suggestions?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.:)

Preferably cheapest as possible with the least amount of routes if possible. Say under 2k

Thanks

Reason: like the oneword sapphire status along with the free lounge access and for some reason i think having gold status helps me with the amount of free upgrades to business when i travel internationally.

Cheers

BNE_MEL_SYD_NAN_SYD_BNE for $1284 over Australia Day Weekend in J might be a good start, works out to be 300SCs but I could be wrong. You have to get yourself to Brisbane to start the run.

300SC by the end of the month to Qualify, and with 20 days to go. Can I join a chorus line of people to call you a masochis_

I'm thinking a couple of LA SYD-ALK J runs, possibly topped up by at least 1x positioning Y return booking within australia would be the cheapest and quickest way to do it within your budget. The Y run isn't needed, but nice to go over the line a little further to help things (particularly when you can do SYD/MEL-CBR for ~100 each way).

They live in MELbourne so that is a bit out of the way.

You have only got just over 300SCs this year so you aren't doing that much flying; more than the average person; wouldn't it be cheaper just to buy Qantas Club membership.

Hence the comment that you need to get yourself to BNE, the same price trip can be done ex Melbourne but results in being 60SC's less than the above and is the some price.

Day 1:MEL-AKL on QF O class for $265 - 20 SC
Day 2:AKL-SYD-AKL on LAN I class for $780 160 SC (Same Day return)
Day 3:AKL-SYD on LAN I class for $380 80 SC (Saturday)
Day 3:SYD-MEL on JQi *Class for $333 40 SC's (Saturday)

Thanks Guys.
Yeah haven't done much flying this year. I was suffering from a tumour and have undergone treatment and now in remission.

Anyway, the LAN AKL-SYD-AKL option looks good. It's a pity that the SYD-AKL-SYD is nearly double the price. I only need 260 SC to be exact though.

$2K is alot of $$$ to chase SG status, I'd go buy a full HD 50inch Plasma TV ;)
I guess we have all different reasons for doing things. I recently spent $2000 to keep Platinum status for another 12 months but have no use for a Plasma TV. Although I wouldn't mind another trip back to Thailand. ;) And $2000 is more than enough for 12 days of accommodation, golf, food and alcohol....

Wow! I'd be happy just to reach or stay at Silver!

That doesn't last long around here... You'll make Silver and before too long Gold will be just out of reach, so you'll want that too...

To the OP, 300SC is a long way off Gold, especially as you can buy a QP membership far cheaper than you can get Gold with. I'd then use the saved money to go for better flights or upgrades to J.

Like I said on another thread, I'd rather have no status, but fly in J than be a gold who is always in Y.

Too true. And then I'll be flying to Chile and back just to keep Gold for another year.

I can actually imagine I'd do that sort of thing! :)

I can vouch for that. I was at PS for around 6 years with 4 or so of them being within 100 SC's of making SG (and that was mainly from DOM O/N class fares).

Thanks to people on here (and the stupid desire to have pretty plastic with benefits in my wallet ;)) I managed to get WP rather than SG, for significantly less (thanks to a very well timed work trip and cheap cheap long-haul fares to the USA).

Once you've got a taste for it, you just want more :D

I scraped into Silver last year with a run of travel in the second half of my year. This year I'll hit Silver within 4 months of the start and Gold is then a distinct possibility. As I'm a QP member it's not the be all and end all but if I can work my travel around a bit I could achieve it. I may need to do a LAN SYD-AKL J flight near the end though! SYD-BNE-TSV is giving me regular 50 SCs per trip and I'm getting fares around $450 which is okay as I'm billing a client anyway. This is better value than SYD-PER (40SCs for similar pricing).
Don't want to take the direct SYD-TSV flights!

Agreed! I've tasted the blood of WP and want more! I hit WP last year and feel like my travelling is so more effortless now. Business Class lounges, priority phone access, OP UPs, 100% points bonus.

I wonder what it was like before they started diluting the benefits!
