Not in AKL, everything shuts overnight and doesn't reopen until 4am (inc QP). Can't even get a coffee to help you through the night.

SYD - CBR (or SYD - CBR - MEL - CBR - SYD) earns a lot of points \ SC's for a very short distance + cost for $370, and that is an easy day trip with no o'nighters. Whilst yes a long day, add an extra $35 and it could even have you home mid afternoon.

SYD-CBR OW is $90 so booking return trip, twice makes it $360. I tried to make a multi-city booking on QF and it (system) stated you cannot book more than 2 sectors on same date. How is that done? For $370, SYD-CBR-MEL-CBR-SYD would be more interesting, for me. Of course, another alternative is SYD-CBR with one sector in biz class. That would be $326+$90=$416.

Make multiple bookings online, (except you get hit with the CC fee) each time, call QF (except they will charge you for telephone bookings), or go into a TA such as flight centre (they are good because they will beat by $5 internet prices per flight) and they would be able to book everything at once.

Thank you. TA makes sense.

I plan this for my dad who is 40 short of QF silver. But, he is also life member of QF club. Is there much to gain from being silver instead of lower bronze? For upgrades, I use my QF gold for upgrading him. Just wondering is spending the $350 is worthwhile. Most of his travels are overseas and I may be better off paying for and getting Priority Pass for him.

And as a matter of interest, I got my PP gratis courtesy of AMEX Charge card. Are there other avenues to getting PP gratis other than seeking another AMEX charge card?

More likely book SYD-MEL-SYD and pick the flights that connect via CBR. But I doubt that there will be any of such connections on that route. CBR - ADL, CBR-BNE, SYD or BNE - ADL, or BNE-MEL are all more likely to have these connections.

To get around the online booking limitations, simply select the next day, then when the flight options come up you can go back a day and do it that way (to get them all on one day).

Thank you for the tip and trick. :D

Great tip (?trick) - thanks for posting.

What I still wonder is whether in my father's case, he is any better off with silver than his being a life member of qf club. As mentioned, I use my higher (gold) status to upgrade him (and my mother). If there are marked benefits, then I can send him on a SC expedition next weekend. Advice / opinions appreciated.

I think save the money, really silver does not give you anything QP membership does not. The only thing i can think of being OW Ruby is priority check in on Non-QF flights ?
I would save the $$ in this case.

Gold is a different story as if you travel OS then you get OW lounge access.

No, i didnt. I thought the $360 will go some way to get my dad qf gold perhaps following his trip to Europe coming October.
