Continuing the Churchill theme: (allegedly) Lady Astor to Churchill: "If you were my husband, I'd poison your tea," to which he responded, "Madam, if you were my wife, I'd drink it!"

Another quip attributed to Churchill about Clement Atlee: "he is a modest (humble) man with much to be modest (humble) about."
Not sure who this reflects more poorly on, but Churchill certainly was not humble.
