Quotable Quotes

And some more from Sayre:

Generally speaking, the benefits of administrative reorganization are immediate, but the costs are coughulative.

Business and public administration are alike only in all unimportant respects.

Crown Resorts chairman Robert Rankin, following the arrests of the company's China-based employees this week:

"We accept [China's] jurisdiction and we respect their laws..."

I believe that ultimately the electric motor will be universally used for trucking in all large cities, and that the electric automobile will be the family carriage of the future. All trucking must come to electricity. I am convinced that it will not be long before all the trucking in New York City will be electric.

Men who think in lifetimes are of little use to statesmanship.
HG Wells The World Set Free

Am reading this book ('Free Books' app) on my phone currently. When I came across this line I thought it had to be a quotable quote.
Interesting book predicting an atomic future in 1913 by the 1950s. The premise is that with limitless free energy the world would be set free from oppression, work and the other plagues of humanity. I wonder how that worked out.

Another one from HG Wells (ibid) that I just read:

So long as you are alive you are just the moment, perhaps, but when you are dead you are all your life from the first moment to the last.

"Time travel? I believe there are people regularly travelling back from the future and interfering with our lives on a daily basis. The evidence is all around us. I’m talking about how every time we make an insurance claim we discover that somehow mysteriously the exact thing we’re claiming for is now precisely excluded from our policy.”

Douglas Adams (author of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy)

THE TRAIN:
At birth we boarded the train and met our parents, and we believe they will always travel by our side. As time goes by, other people will board the train; and they will be significant i.e. our siblings, friends, children, and even the love of your life. However, at some station our parents will step down from the train, leaving us on this journey alone. Others will step down over time and leave a permanent vacuum. Some, however, will go so unnoticed that we don't realize they vacated their seats.
This train ride will be full of joy, sorrow, fantasy, expectations, hellos, goodbyes, and farewells. Success consists of having a good relationship with all passengers requiring that we give the best of ourselves.
The mystery to everyone is:
We do not know at which station we ourselves will step down. So, we must live in the best way, love, forgive, and offer the best of who we are. It is important to do this because when the time comes for us to step down and leave our seat empty we should leave behind beautiful memories for those who will continue to travel on the train of life.
I wish you all a joyful journey.
