Re: How easy to use QFF points - A tale from an Infrequent Flyer

But hang on Frank Lowy ethnically cleansed Australia of ethnic clubs? These clubs are just fair dinkum Australian clubs just looking to make a profit.
What about the people running the clubs? That is usually a good indication.

Either way though my statement is still valid. These fights were not between Australians and had nothing to do with cultural or political issues in Australia. Lets stop sugar coating everything and call a spade a spade.

But hang on, your the one that says don't bring the old world to Australia but at the same time you dislike Brisbane because their ain't enough Greeks!

What do you mean you, who are running the clubs? The Owners, the directors, the coaching staff? Last time I checked they mostly were all Australian citizens.

Also what constitutes an Australian? Most of those kids that were fighting were at least 3rd generation Australian. Your probably 2nd generation, so does that mean your not an Aussie, because your not an Anglo-Celt?

You are missing the point. The kids that were fighting could well be 3rd generation Australian but they were fighting over old world issues which is bloody stupid. In fact it is un-Australian.

FWIW I was born in Greece. I consider myself Australian with a Greek background. I have an Australian accent. I have embraced the Australian way of life. Follow cricket, Aussie rules, rugby league etc. I speak English at every opportunity. I love Greek music. I can speak Greek fluently but have no desire to speak Greek in the office with every Greek working there or in public unless I was trying to explain something to my parents and even then I speak to them in English.

And I certainly dont need to fight over old world issues.

Living in Australia does not make you Australian. Being Australian requires a level of commitment to Australian culture and way of life which a lot of migrants do not have (and I can safely say with some they will never have) and believe it or not the same can be said for a lot of 2nd and 3rd generations "Australians" as well.

What I dont understand is how they have fooled Australia so easily.
