I had started to walk a little after 4pm and decided to walk for an hour and then turn back. However after the first hill it was easy going so I went for 90 minutes and then returned in half the time.

Sunday and once again a sleep in.I had been on call the weekend before and in the week had 40 admissions.I needed that rest.I decided to head back to the Rocky Cape National Park and do a longer walk on the western side.I stopped again at the Thistle Hut for an early lunch. This time I had the burger-

.
Nice burger but I found out I should have asked for the secret kimchi as well.
Then to the park. You get a good view of the Port Latta mineral terminal.Output from the Savage River mine.A ship in loading up and another waiting. In fact I have never seen as many ships in the North west.In the first week I was here there were 4 waiting to get into Burnie port.

.
But I was here for different views.

All National Park walks seem to start uphill.Fortunately a gentle slope and a good path.

Though that post in the water marks the entrance to the boat ramp.yes in the National Park.Though not the only thing unusual in the park. This post marks the spot of an irrigation point.

This is the size of the usual banksias in Tasmania.

The large banksias at BanksiaGrove at the Sister's Beach entrance are the only large banksias on the island. And the road leading to the boat ramp.

Lots of flowers this end of the park including the same orchid at Narawntupu.

Now it is meant to be a way back via the coast but the track got very rough and nearly vertical so I wasn't going to risk it so back the way I came.

It is in fact the reason for the National Park. Some were really worried that the whole area would be covered by fishing shacks.Against aot of local opposition the Park was declared in 1967.

Now to the beach.interesting berries by the car park.

After leaving Rocky Cape there was time for a walk in the York street reserve in Wynyard.Basically part of the Inglis River walk. They have done a lot of work and the tracks are wide.I suspect that might not be good.In spring I always see orchidshere.

I did my best imitation song and I was allowed to get closer as the 2 of us kept to the track.Ended when a fellow on his mountain bike came fast around a corner nearly collecting me.And that was the last I saw of my friend.

Then back to my little house.

So to the lower car park.A nice little area with undercover seats and BBQ.

Would be a great place for a picnic.
I went on to try and find another couple of waterfalls in the region.Unsuccessful.You also go through some of the many plantations in the region.

So the long weekend has arrived.I started off thinking I would start in Sheffield for Steamfest. But once again for a saturday I slept in.Then my phone wouldn't work.Mrsdrron suggested I reinsert the sim.Pulled out the sim tray and the sim wasn't in it.Hmmm.Fortunately the second time I reinserted the tray the phone sprang to life.
So it was about midday when I set off so decided it was lunch then off to the western side of Narawntupu NP.I stopped at this place-

.
So I had the crispy squid with salad plus took home a sample of their wares-

The squid was beautifully cooked and the salad was really good.It had no kale! The pickled onions are recommended.
After leaving lunch I passed by the Berry patch who had a VW day.Seems every kombi in Tassie was there.

At the National Park I set off on the walk to Arthur's knob.Said to be a 2 hour return walk.Wasn't long when I spotted a fellow trying to hide from me.

I think the first macropod you spotted was a pademelon; the second a wallaby.

Really enjoying your photos. We’re considering a 2 - 3 week trip to Tasmania next year. Could you please direct me to your other travel blogs on Tasmania, thank you.

Port Sorell and Hawley Beach in particular are well known for onions! Did a geological excursion in this area once :).
