Hi Everyone,

Im sitting in the Syd FLounge having breakfast at the moment (Heading to Auckland on LA800 for 2 days work).. chances are there is someone else from AFF in here too. BUT as i dont know anyone in person, just on here there is no chance spotting someone.

SO i have a question, is there a section of the site, (or other method) where we could update which lounge we are located to catch up?

Twitter/foursquared/AFF site, not sure what would be best, but just throwing the question out there.

Cheers
Fuzz

Will miss you by a couple of hours... Not sure there is an official spot but I find it tends to be at the far end near the spa

We could create a topic in the social forum?

I always check into lounges I'm in using Foursquare, so I guess that's another option. I'm 'swewing' - currently the 'mayor' of the CBR J lounge, and was only 2 days off getting the SYD J lounge the last time I checked in :D

My next SYD F lounge visit is next Friday. I'll be there from about 11:30am (inbound dom flight lands at 10:50 and I'll be checked through) until my 6pm flight to WLG boards :D

The Meetings/Social Events forum is you place on AFF for that info. Yes, it it somewhat annoying to browse through to find who's there at your date/time/location, but it does work.

FlightConnect from Flyertalk, and ba97 are also good to find members around the world and their lounge visits/guest availability.

As for real-time, there's no central directory of AFF members on 4sq/gowala/twitter/other. You can find some members on Facebook via the AFF group.

Once you get to know various members, no doubt you'll find them on these networks.

Looks like we all missed each other just! I'm in the SYD F lounge in the restaurant doing my best to finish the fresh bottle of Taittinger they opened for me. 12:25 massage is booked in.

Wo said flying was tough ;)

Judging by a recent (22 mins ago) FB post by another member, you're not alone in there either :)

Not everyone uses Face Book. I have a membership but might look at it thrice a month.

Oh I know.

I don't really post on there, but I do check it from time to time to see what's going on - and that itself is a recent thing after I caved in to pressure :)

I posted my plans in the meetings thread and am here with another AFF'er now. Makes drinking much more pleasant :D

Scanning the monthly flight/lounge meetings thread is the best way, takes some time but if you know when you’re going to be there, it’s possible to just search the page for similar entries. It’s tedious, but works best.

The AFF app, while only being available on an iPhone, also can show off your location.

The most important thing to remember though is that it’s only a relatively small group of members from the whole site that actually post where they’re going to be. There’s probably reasons why most don’t, but privacy seems to be a big one, so there could have been someone sat across from you, a few someones, all members, but they’d never say so, or post they were there :(

Makes the Taittinger taste better too!

I do hope that your soon to be new best friend and fellow AFFer, gets their own bottle of Tattinger and you do not have to share!

I update my foursquare when I get to the club, but i might now (that i know) start sitting down the spa end.. I sat there last time, this time i tried the other end.

Will get to a gathering when I am now away.

Didnt get anything at the spa this trip as they dont open to 9am, and my flight was 09:55 :(

Cheers

Well done. Never had the massage there. Well worth it drewbles?

Spa treatment definitely with it if you can get one. Seems easier at MEL than SYD. Only managed to get a short slot, so just a neck and shoulder massage, but I did something to my shoulder the other day and the massage fixed it right up.

Sitting in FL at LAX T4 right now. Shame there's no spa here heh.
