Recent Experiences with QF’s new terminal transfer at SYD

TBH, if it was me I would probably book a later domestic flight up front, not rely on rebooking if (when?) it all goes pear shaped on arrival. 2 hours transit was just about ok pre pandemic but even for match fit pax I think 2 hours is pushing it these days. There's reports of bags taking 90 minutes to appear at SYD recently.
Fair enough but not sure if BA is willing to change the QF domestic flight upfront if there is no change to the itinerary as it technically fits the minimum connection time.
Hope things get better in the next 4 weeks...

Parents arrived on BA15 this morning, on-time.
No queue at immigration and bags on the carousel within minutes.
They got to the QF transfer and were at the Domestic Terminal just before 6am with enough time for QF504.
So worked out fine as inbound flight on time before the rush.

We'll see how it works back in a few weeks from D to I in SYD

Got in this morning on QF82 at 0701 and through immigration/bags at 0729. Currently on the bus still waiting to leave I at 0819…. Massive queues and only one security lane open.

Edit: into Domestic lounge at 0831, 62mins from walking out of the customs queue.

Did you check out using the T-Bus? (Departs 7:30, 8:00, 8:30, 9:00 ...)

Mrs sd is flying QF MEL SYD then onto QF1, but on different tickets. Three questions, pushing the seamless-lite topic a little, if I may? Would she be able to check in for QF1 in Melbourne? Would she be able to book her luggage from MEL - LHR despite the two different tickets? If she is unable to get a QF1 boarding pass in Melbourne, can she still use the airside transfer in SYD to the international terminal?

Yes, IF one flight is award and the other is a revenue (cash) booking.

No, IF both revenue.

Yes. Official QF policy is they will connect any two QF bookings provided the MCT is met.

I’m aware some on this forum have said this has been denied to them on occasion, but this is the policy. I did it as recently as January this year.

I tried QF award to AA revenue in July which complies with the exemption on that interline page and was told no - added about 40mins to my DFW connection compared to if the website policy been followed by the checkin agent.

QF ticket?
QF domestic & international on 1 PNR/ticket?
Thanks, specifically looking at buying a BA ticket MEL SYD SIN and vv. MEL SYD sectors have BA flight numbers on QF metal. Flight to from SIN on BA metal..

Guess with the recent issues re pandemic, not a lot of people would have travelled that particular routing of late.
But wait and see what others say later today tho.
When I did it a few times prior to 2020, at SYD T3 gate 15, BP for the next flight were always scanned, so you would have need to print it at the least, not the last BP you use MEL - SYD, but the SYD - SIN one.
Should be ok, as they are still partners in OW.
Maybe you will be the one to test the system post pandemic.
Probably do OLCI with the BA website, and then print the BP onto A4 paper.
Hopefully you will HLO only.

Should not be an issue.
Allow plenty of time for T3 T1 transfer (MEL - SYD). At SYD T3 go gate 15 for the QF bus.
MCT (minimum connection time) and SCT (sensible connection time) are not the same.
On the return T1 to T3 less risk - consequences.
