Recent "flow-forwarding" experiences

Waitlist is permitted on fully flexible fares.
Y class only, and then it's generally done via a TA or call centre and not at the airport anyway (and generally 8+hours prior). In 20+ years I can count on two hands how many commercial waitlists I've seen, and most of them is due to disruptions.
If it's a case of normal operations, then airports wouldn't generally see it. It can happen, but very very rare.

Flow forward success post enquiring at check in desk 20/12 MEL-CBR Y reward seat. Originally booked on 0800, was moved to 0700 on request.

Moved ahead on a classic reward yesterday on a rammed BNE service.

Interestingly, there was a feature in the app saying something about change of plans? Use your benefits and fly ahead where you could choose alternative flights before or after on same day.
There were no other available flights so asked in lounge

Not sure if this is just something for P1s?

Maybe it’s something to do with the waiver of any fare differential when travelling on a Flex fare as a P1?

Yep it's offered now as a P1 only benefit.

Many years ago I had no trouble politely asking as Gold or Platinum if I arrived at the airport early and there was space available they would happily accommodate the request, but in more recent years the response is now "sorry, you aren't on a flexible fare" (unless there's delays or cancellations)

I know it’s difficult to predict but hoping for your thoughts- I have an upcoming SYD-AKL and would like to move to a slightly earlier flight given I have a god-awful o’clock the next morning to the cook islands

The advertised cost for moving to the flight I desire is $400 (ok), but Qantas’s brilliant IT is offering me the opportunity, for the low low price of $350 to move to the flight I’m already booked on…..
I’m in Fiji so can’t call in
Wondering what will happen if I risk it? It’s not the end of the world to just go out as booked

International flights don't have the 'flow forward' feature. Only domestic travel.
High chance you'll be out of luck when asked at the airport.

They don't have phones in Fiji? :)
Isn't there a Fiji access number since Qantas flies there? Or otherwise use Skype or other VOIP service to call the US 1800 number for free.

But agreed you likely wouldn't get very far, even if you do reach HBA.

Tbh even scratching some wifi is challenging where I am
Happy to pay fare difference. Just would like to believe I’m not paying $400 when the difference is actually $50

Just walk over to the call centre.
I did drive past mindpearl the other day!

In any event now that I’m back in the land of the living, I’ve decided to just go with what is already in place

Price for the flight I would pick has dropped to $350 but they’re still offering me a change to my existing flight for $350 so, could be free after all?
