Recognition of QF Status on one World Partners

Just got back from Taipei and noticed that the service was truely amazing on CX flights. I've flown CX heaps on these routes, but never had status higher than Silver/Ruby. I was Gold or OW saphire and got 1st class backage priority and free upgrade from Y to Y+ on Both HKG TPE flights "Due to my status". Also got pampered on all flights especially the PER-->HKG and the hosties were clearly going out of their way fro me. Is this normal for OW or CX. I am now WP so it will be interesting to see what happens on the next trip.

That's certainly unusual - you should only get J tags at most as a sapphire. CX also doesn't run Y+ on HKG-TPE?
 
CX run everything on TPE - 333s, 744s, 773s, maybe the occasional 340, so I'm not surprised.

I've only done short-haul to PVG since getting WP but I'm 3/4 for greeting and survey, and 1/4 for upgrade to J on a route that's always heavily loaded. Am going to try out a MEL-HKG on CX soon just to see what I get.
 
Had same out of CNS on CX to HKG, gave Mrs. lime & self 4 seats in Y, one in air Chief flight attendant welcomed me (i was SG whatever that is on CX) and went and got me some wine, sort of ignored Mrs Lime (a QF silver) until I pointed her out, she then got a drink too from another FA, I thought it was hilarious at the time.
 
I've had WP shadow or an Op Up in short haul Y on CX out of HKG to CEB 8/8 times with mid flight greeting from the CSM most of the time. More than I can say for QF.

BA Club World service had always been good so no real discernible WP benefit. Same with CX J, as SWMBO has reported she gets better service when I'm not around lol
 
American airlines certainly recognizes the one world status, cathay to a certain degree. No op ups experienced on either though and probably done 20-30 sectors with each. Cathay could be to do with flights out of Perth only having 2 class and I was already flying business on 16 of the 20 sectors.

Flying s7 next month and finnair so will be interesting to see if there is a difference.

I've just had four CX flights SYD>HKG>BOM and return in J. As a WP I received no "special" treatement, not even a welcome on-board on any of these flights. That said, the "normal" CX customer service is top-notch, so I have nothing to complain about.
 
Cathay certainly provides seating benefits to oneworld elites where they sub planes that have better seats, or don't sell cabins
eg. have got Y+ seating booked as Y when a 777-300ER subbed for a 747 on PVH-HKG, and have twice gotten F seating booked as J on HKG-CTS routes
 
I certainly feel like I get special treatment on CX - no OpUps though as sadly they dont fly F out of SYD. I always get a greeting (unless I am asleep on take off) and any complaints/special requests tend to have the CSM come running - I don't expect that but it happens. Example I declined the pre-flight Champers and pointed out to the crew that it was the worst thing about the CX service and the CSM was over to me within 2 mins and offered the Billecart Salmon Rose...
 
Apart from free preferred seat selection (incl. 1st row of Y and exit rows), which was nice, I haven't had anything as yet on MH. I flew 4 intra-Asia flights in Y during Apr-May and there was not even a reference to OW in the priority boarding at any airport (SIN, KUL, BLR). I ended up just walking up when J was called, flashed the OWS status on the boarding pass and they all gave a look of embarrassed realization and waved me through. Perhaps that change is coming soon. Nothing different on board, but then I don't generally get anything after the PB call from QF or others as a SG either, so no real gap there. I have a few J flights on MH in the next week and will report back if anything noticeable happens!

Come to think of it, of the 4+ years I've spent as a QF Gold/OW Sapphire before becoming Platinum, one of very few cases of op-up was when I got upgraded to J was on a SYD-HKG flight on CX.
Perhaps CX is indeed 'nicer' to OW elites than other OW airlines.

I have a few J flights on MH in the next week and will report back if anything noticeable happens!

Don't get too excited I have recently done 2x MH flights in fully paid J as a Oneworld Emerald, apart from first class check-in in HKG and boarding via the First class queue, no other OWE benefit or recognition was given. No greeting, no special treatment, not even calling me by name. Kind of got the feeling that the FA's and ground staff haven't been trained properly on OW and what it means to be in OW.

Their service attitude (whilst not bad or anything) was kind of like "ok we're in OW now we'll get all these extra bookings and all we have to do is give lounge access, priority check-in & boarding, what a good deal we got!"
Whereas Enrich Platinums & Golds seem to have been smothered with love onboard and OWE, OWS's just another customer..

I am going to send them some constructive feedback, they need to take CX's lead on service towards OW FF's.
 
On AA economy, just show your BP stating your emerald status to the FA, and you will get free food and a standard alcoholic beverage.
 
Off the top of my head...
CX - always good, often greeting, particularly long hauls, intra-Asian flights probably 50/50. Though have always been paid J, except for once was HKG-TPE, 2 of us, full Y fare, last two tickets the night before... phone staff rang us up a few times to unblock seats and move us to exit rows. Was overbooked of course so we were both op-upped.
BA - pretty much nothing, as you'd expect ;) exit rows are good of course in Y
AY - only flown in shorthaul Y, no real recognition at all - the status thing is nearly foreign over there. Actually in MOW had to convince the Aeroflot staff doing ground handling for AY that we had priority check-in and in HEL had to show the platinum desk their own website about the extra bag for OWE (this was prior to the alliance wide policy).
RJ - not sure if they noticed, but have only ever flown J both long, mid and short haul - always pretty good. Hard to get preferential treatment when there's only a few people in J anyway.
S7 - again J only. Last time I remember getting some preference over the other couple but nothing specific to acknowledge we were emeralds
LA - flown on the SYD-AKL J run several times, so not a great example.
MH & AB have only short flights in Y so nothing on them.

So CX does do a top job, depends how important you consider 'recognition'. Staff training on such things is obviously a challenge and the question is whether the effort should be coming from OW or the individual airlines.
 
Our 2 flights few weeks ago fromHK-coughet ret we were upgraded to j ,as we left the second flight I asked the FA how we got upgraded and her reply was " you must be a one world member eh"
 
I've only flown with a limited number of OW airlines but QF by far have recognised me the most as OW Emerald. The dragon in a CDG lounge trying to deny my guest entry to the lounge before a Finnair flight because I was QF Platinum and not AY Platinum was about the worst treatment I've had :P
 
CX always recognised and greeted.
JAL ditto,note that One World Emeralds board with F and before J and Y regardless of class of travel.
RJ only one flight but no problems
AA only travel first class (YUPP :) ) but when IRROPs occur it is always good to have the AAngel in the Flagship lounge look after you.
J* nothing ;)
 
I have been upgraded on CX far more than on QFi (and as a QF WP, I must have flown QFi >10 times more than on CX). Recognition of status on CX is also more consistent than on QFi.

All other oneworld carriers appear to do the absolute minimum required by the oneworld agreement.
