Recommended SIM for Europe

Issue is I'm not in going to UK but Ireland and Germany....therefore UK 1000min will not work?

It depends what you want to use it for for.

If mainly data and not a huge number of calls then:

  • 12GB is pretty good for this price: plus can use skype vib
  • Most European countries the calls are only 3.9p/minute (note need to top up to do this if you use up your credit and that needs to either be done in the UK or buying online from the same link and not from places in Europe)
The link I posted was for:

what it comes with:
- 12GB of 3.5G to 4G LTE data for use within 71 destinations
- 3000 minutes calls (uk + europe numbers only)
- 3000 texts (uk + europe numbers only)
- manufactured in a triple cut sim that fits all phones. (3g and 4g devices only)

Note:
  • You can’t use your minutes allowance to make calls to local or other international numbers, unless you are in one of our Feel at Home in Europe destinations, where calls between European destinations will come from your allowance.
  • Full list of countries supported here: Go Roam | Feel at home | Three

I am using for a trip mainly in the UK, but also Scandinavia. But I have bought one each for my two daughters for a trip they are doing to Italy and like most of their generation they basically only use data even here in Oz.

I bought a couple of these last week from Sim Corner (our trip is next month) and they accidentally sent me 4 instead of 2 x 12GB.

I was honest and emailed them/sent two back.

I first turned on the phone in Dubai. No problems. Worked fine on arrival in UK.
So no problems with:
You must use your SIM card in the United Kingdom first, before using it in another country
Important note about roaming
The first place you use this SIM card must be on the Three network in the United Kingdom, otherwise Three may disable your ability to roam outside the UK. This means that you should not put the SIM card in your phone until you arrive in the UK. Don't put it in your phone before leaving home 'just to test it'.

The site states:
Things you should know:
- sim can be activated and used in 71 countries (click here(three.co.uk) to see countries)

Do these need to be activated in the UK first? The 3 website suggests they do…

No. that is for the other sim plan that allows you to tether (internet with legs i think its called)- they have to be activated in the UK. These activate as soon as you pop them into your phone and turn it on

    Hi power71

No they do not need to be activated in the UK at all, they are simply plug and go. :)

Need new Sim for calls and some data currently in Germany.
What is recommended right now please?

As posted in my thread:

Bloody Soeasy 3 Sims.
First Sim stopped working after 15 days with only 5 short calls in Ireland. Had 1000 minutes and 12 GB data.
Second Sim placed in phone in Germany.....40 minutes after in phone still unable to make or receive calls?????

Update to above post...... They were trying to ring non UK/EU numbers and this is why did not connect..... Still checking why did not receive calls from other phone on another international provider with no restrictions.

Another tip for users is remember to update your data limit on phone.... Theirs is 5GB but Sim had 12GB of data!!!!
