Recommended time allowance: FRA airport arrival to IC train departure

This morning’s airport flow was ridiculously quick. Disembarking was slow - I only stepped off the plane at 6.45, but then I passed through immigration and had my bag by an impressive 7.03am. The train station coffee joints don’t have much seating and what they had was chockers, so I trotted back to airport departures where there’s a Starbucks with windowside seating. I’m having a macchiato and waiting for my brain to register dawn. If my brain wakes up enough I *may* even try and do a bit of work before my 9.01 train given I was lucky enough to score an economy lie flat row of 3 from SIN-FRA (such a score!)

Meeting connections is so much about luck. No regrets about my decision to book 9.01, even though in this instance I would have made the 7.35. Thanks everyone for your advice!

Thanks for reporting back with how you went - and well done getting a row of 3 to yourself! Perhaps I should have flown last night instead of over the weekend - my flight was chockers 😂

All of my SQ flights since the pandemic have been chockers so it was a nice surprise. When you have those spare seats on boarding, there’s nothing quite like the thrill of hearing “cabin crew, secure the doors” and you can finally let out the breath you’ve been holding.

To follow this up, we arrived at Frankfurt Airport this morning. The wheels touched down at around 07:10 - 70 minutes late. We were docked at Terminal 2. After a pit stop we arrived at the immigration line after all the other J plus Premium Economy pax on our Vietnam Airlines flight. But still only had three people in front of us in the queue as about 6 non EU lanes were open. After picking up our bags we had to catch the transfer bus to Terminal 1 for the train station We bought our tickets and were on a train to the HBF by 08:11. We caught a train that required us to make two transfers rather than the 1 transfer I had planned. But we still managed to get an early check-in with the room cards in our hands at 09:00.

While we are at it, how long would it usually take in Munich T1, from a Schengen-area internal flight to the train station?

If it's just a Schengen area internal flight, 45 minutes should be fine. I find MUC easier to navigate - however at times there can be delays in the checked bags coming out. The longest I've waited was a bit over an hour after arriving on an Air China flight.

Obviously if the flight is delayed though, then you'll have issues with a 45-minute connection.

In June 2023, (whilst not Schengen), it took about 15mins total from off the aircraft (LHR-MUC on BA) to down the escalator to the MUC station with HLO. That was with a 5min wait at immigration. Train to Munich hbf waiting and was at my hotel in no time. Best way to centre of the city in my opinion.
