Have had the oddest of experiences with American Express. I have been talking about the Amex Velocity card with a friend of mine for some time and since she now wants to go abroad, I finally managed to get her to sign up. I sent my husbands link to her to get him some bonus points as well... and then we waited... and waited... and nothing happened.

So I talked to her and yes, she had applied through the link I sent, got approved, did her spending and she got her 100,000 bonus points... but we didnt get anything. So I lodged it with American Express and they came back a week later, sorry but she used a link for another card and they got the bonus. But she didnt! She used the link i sent which is the one in his account, and it is the same still! So he recruited and someone else got the bonus! How is that even possible?

I have complained about the issue, stating facts that there must be a glitch in their system but they havent gotten back to me after 2 weeks :( Not very happy, missing out on 20,000 much needed bonus points. Dont know what else to do or even if it is worth the effort. They seem to have made up their minds, but I know the link I sent and she used that one and non other.

Not wanting to be rude but how can you be sure? She may just not have wanted to tell you she used someone else's?

Unfortunately, I think you'll have little recourse here as Amex hold all the cards.

Because I am the only one she knows that has this card and not to be rude, but she is not that great with doing things. I had to take her through step by step.
I dont think there is anything I can do either... just so annoying and frustrating :p

aren't links to the sign up bonus's all over facebook groups, forums and even Gumtree? Maybe she was researching the card or the program and accidentally clicked on someone else's link instead.

No, I dont think so as I walked her through it. Dont even know how it would happen... guess I can only take it as a loss, but the issu has been raised again with Amex and they are looking into it to see so that there just isnt two links.

Only other way would be her accidentally adding a letter or something after clicking the link... anyway... she got her points and someone is happy *lol* Merry Christmas :D
