They adjust burn rates anyway citing higher costs, plus take the +++ in addition (since when have you seen burn rates go down?) Besides, if they incorporated fuel surcharges into base fare, no need to adjust earn/burn rates - on airline earned miles - as you're paying more for the fares that earn miles in the first place. Whole thing's a scam.

Two exceptions - firstly big thumbs up to EK who do include fuel fines in the base fare, and second small thumbs up to NZ who include fuel fines in the Airpoints required for Star Alliance redemptions (so the only real $$ paid on * awards are govt/airport imposed surcharges - or at least this was the case last time I got a quote).
