I called Velocity this morning and made some inquiry with redeem my Velocity points for Singapore Airlines flights to Paris from Adelaide. To my surprise, a little bit shock as well, it requires 500,000 points for a return Business class flight from Adelaide or Melbourne, where you only require 250,000 Velocity points for Eithad flights. I think Qantas requires around 200,000-250,000 points to make that trip. Would anyone in their right mind would ever redeem a Singapore Airlines flights with Velocity points? I guess the difference 10,000 or 20,000 or even 50,000 points is understandable. Why would there be such great difference to redeem flights under same frequent flyer program for two different airlines?

SQ are very tight with their J redemptions through "partner" airlines, with VS they are not even available.

It was more than likely a ASA as opposed to an Award seat. Award seats are much cheaper but I don't know if VA offer them on SQ. Trust me I have seen EY ASA flights on the Velocity search engine for 800,000 to LHR in BUSINESS.
