On the AA site when i search for a specific date/route, on both the calendar screen and the following individual day/flight options screen it shows the F seat is available. But then when I've selected the F seat and then click next to confirm/pay, it always says that the seat is no longer available.
I checked on QF site and the F seat is indeed available for miles redemption.
Any ideas?
TIA

As Hvr notes, AA is notorious for showing phantom QF availability. I reported this issue to AA in March 2017 and have corresponded with them (getting very good replies on several occasions).

However, if there is indeed availability on QF then try calling AA's Australian number, 02 9101 1948. That call centre (located in Fiji, I think) has strangely been very good at being able to book tickets that the AA website and its US call centres haven't been able to.

Agree 100%. Calling it the way to go, as annoying as it can potentially be.
