Not sure if this should go in the AMEX forum, but I have a Velocity Platinum card and cannot find out on the website where to go to redeem the free return flight. Can someone here advise? Thanks.

You have to call Amex travel services. - American Express can be contacted between 0900–1800Monday to Friday by calling 1300 366 105 from within Australia
or +61 2 9271 8655 from overseas.

+1 - not only where to go to redeem it but also any other tips to milk best value please.

Our next one will be BNE-HBA. Possibly the best values as far as I can see but probably not the best for you.

I have a couple of PER-SYD flights to book using this benefit later in the year, does anyone know if they are up-gradable using points or upgrade me bids?

I have had a search but can't seem to find anything that says anything either way.

Thanks.

Not sure what the issue is there as it opens straight away for me in Chrome. You can get there from the link in the Travel section of Velocity Platinum Card Page on the Amex site.

I will see how I go when I need to book as those T&Cs do contradict their destinations list on the card page. However when I applied for the card they confirmed that SYD was a valid destination from PER just not the other way around.

Hmm, interesting. I note the T&Cs I linked to are dated 1 Apr 2014 (April fool??), yet the table states the flight routes are available from 15 June 2011. Perhaps the T&Cs have been updated to make it fairer for PER locals and they just missed updating the table in the T&Cs.

Yet the map you linked to (wouldn't open on either IE or Chrome on the work computer but does on my laptop) may also be out of date as it shows flights available from OOL to TSV yet there are no direct flights on that route anymore (and there hasn't been for quite some time). I guess it's anyones guess as to which "out of date" AMEX document will be relied upon, so I'll wish you the very best of luck. ;)

I have just looked at using the flight in late August and cannot see any saver flights. Do they insist on it being a saver fare?

I have understood that the flight redemption depends on the type of card you have. If you have the Amex Platinum Velocity you have different domestic flights compared to the Amex Platinum Edge. Flying from Perth, it used to be within the state with the Platinum Velocity, but if you have the Edge you can go east as well.

If you log on to americanexpress.com and look at card benefits/complimentary flight/selected cities, you can see exactly where your card can take you.

Just had a look at my Platinum Velocity account, and it seems as if they have changed it the last week. I checked just a few days ago and I could only get flights within the state exiting Perth, but now it seems I can go to Adelaide and Sydney as well.

RoseAnna, thanks, yep this flight is a good deal PER-SYD-PER, which AMEX confirmed to me some time ago, but sadly not from the east.

Looks like I wont be going to Broome... think I will go for Sydney instead now that it is available. I dont understand why it is available Per-SYD but not the other way around.

This annoys me to no end. I booked PER-SYD-PER in 2012 when I first got this card. Haven't been able to do it since. I even called no less than 1 month ago and was told PER-SYD-PER was definitely unavailable when according to this info it is! T&C Still have it as unavailable. It is however available on the Platinum Edge Card.

Has anyone had any success booking PER-SYD-PER recently?

On a side note, I was so annoyed by the non-use of this free flight I tried to cancel my card and didn't as I was gifted 30K velocity points.

I booked 2 separate PER-SYD-PER in mid March, I also was able to upgrade to J with points online.
