Hi

I have a stockpile of Velocity Points and was looking at options for redeeming them for rewards seats with other airlines. In particular, would love to redeem Sydney to London return on Business or First with Etihad.

Does anyone know the best option to do this? Is there something akin to the Velocity to Krisflyer points transfer?

Virgin lists on their website something called "Any Seat, Any Airline" but details are scant. Any help would be awesome.

Cheers.

Hey, it's quite simple. You just go into your Velocity account, click on the redeem tab and do a search. This is limited to business class searches or below. You can also just call Velocity call centre if you want to try and book First - however you might want to do a dummy search in Etihad Guest first. To do this you will need to signup to Etihad Guest.

You then use your existing Velocity points to pay for the ticket either online at Velocity site or over phone, so no transfer is required

Note, Virgin just added a segment fee that means a return trip to London for instance will have $820USD extra fees for business class. So for a ticket to London you might end up paying $810 USD + $600AUD in taxes.

I'm about to try Etihad J, but if it doesn't blow me away I'm going to stick to Singapore as they offer a free stopover.

No need to sign up to Etihad Guest to search their rewards - Flights with miles

Note - over time there has been a disparity between what EY shows as available, and what VA can see as available.

Thanks guys, I had a look at both VA and EY.

VA never shows up any rewards seats for me. Maybe I am looking too far ahead. In any case, Etihad on First for me (Sydney to London) would be close to 500K in VFF points, plus USD 1200 plus taxes. Much as I'd love to check out the First Class apartments, just once, it's a bit steep, I think.

I could get Sydney to London for about half that on Singapore!
