Redemption of earned points for rewards!

Hi Guys

I am interested to know your experiences about redeeming the earned points for rewards, like:
1. do you redeem on not?
2. if yes how oftenly?
3. do you miss redeeming and they expire (as it happens sometimes with me)?

I do not believe in letting points/miles expire.

I have used my QFF points for 3 Oneworld awards, round australia in 4 days, SE Asia then SQ miles to Taipei, Greece and Thai miles for an intra SE Asia return.
