I've been bumped up to Gold in the recent review. I purchased Lounge membership in January. Do I get a pro-rata refund of my subscription?

No; the unexpired portion gets added to the end after you drop to silver (if that ever happens).

Question
What happens with my existing lounge Membership if I qualify for Silver?

Answer
If you have earned Velocity Gold, you will receive complimentary access to the Virgin Australia lounge during your membership period. Therefore, if you previously purchased annual lounge membership, you are entitled to a pro-rata refund of the fee paid/Points redeemed.

This refund will occur automatically within seven to ten business days. If for any reason this refund does not occur, please contact the Virgin Australia lounge on 1300 287 202.

For more information, please refer to the Virgin Australia lounge Terms & Conditions on the website.
I realise that says qualify for Silver, but the titles (questions) seem to be mixed up for the answers between Silver and Gold.

I can't post links due to my low post count.

This would be consistent with the approach taken by QF as well.

Thanks VR! I've been a bit slack with my travel for the year to date and haven't made adequate use of the lounge. A pro-rata refund will mean that I've still got great value for when I have flown.

My apologies; I mistakenly presumed you were referring to the QC lounge membership not THE LOUNGE with Virgin; My reply referred to my experience with QF - silly me.

Of course, Velocity Rewards is correct.

I wouldn't be bothered with that second rate airline.;) Thanks for your response regardless.

Sorry incorrect.
If you earn Gold, there will be a pro-rata refund of the unused portion of the Lounge membership.

Really?

I was op'd Gold a month after I spent velocity points by the truck load on a lounger membership. On sending emails to Velocity on a few occasions asking this very question, and being systematically ignored, its nice to hear this.

Assuming this applies to Velocity points as well, what would be an acceptable time to wait for my points to post in my account? Its about 6 so far and zilch to date :|

I never knew you could use points to buy lounge membership. I was trying to do exactly that in January but it wasn't listed anywhere.

Would be nice if QF could do the same. I had 1.5 years remaining of a corporate QP membership remaining when I hit Gold back in 2004, but have never got to use it because I've been gold or platinum ever since. It wasn't much money as it was a discount corporate membership, but it would still be nice to get it back.

I'm about to go QFG and still have 3 years left on Q Club membership so I guess if and when I drop below the threshold it will be added on?.

Yes they put it on hold and reactivate if/when you go back to silver. Personally I'd prefer it gets refunded though as I've been Gold/Platinum for 7 years, and will probably hit LTG before I'm even likely to drop back.

I was really hoping that our resident DJ rep was able to answer my question above - and now he's leaving...

There are two other VA reps that should be able to answer - I'd PM Velocity Rewards and they should be able to help.
