Hi, looking for some advice. Have cancelled a points booking and have a substantial $$ refund. The call centre would not / could not help but the original booking cc is closed and I have a new one. No one will return and of the several emails and im looking for any help I can get. Tia Mark

Not sure who your credit card was with but I had this happen to me earlier this year. The refund went to a Westpac CC I had closed. The online internet banking account with Westpac was still 'available' (I had no other open accounts with Westpac). Via the Westpac internet chat, I was able to get the refund taken off the credit card and placed into an ANZ bank account. Was relatively straightforward and took a few days to process. You'll need to follow up with whoever the credit card provider was to get the refund.

Thanks, I'll try the original cc bank

I had a refund hitting a closed anz credit card. I called anz severaltime, they never saw the money until I talked to a cotmpetent agent, only to tell me the money got send back autmatically to Qantas after 30 days. Had to do a stat dec to qantas. Painfull. This wouldnt have happen if I had a anz bank account.
Just depends on the bank but it can be painfull.

I managed to get refund from a cancelled card.

1. Had to send them a stat dec with all the flight details and the new credit card number
2. Several phone calls later on following it up with them.
3. Got a refund to the new card 5 weeks after I started the process
