Thought I’d kick off this thread, as I am sitting in the Auckland lounge at 10.30am on Tuesday 14 June, the day of the first QF3 flight.

What‘s the big changes?
Nothing I can see in the First cupboard.

And siyuation normal in the main lounge, except for some talking up promotion on the wall.

I don’t think they’ll have it finished before the flight lands this arvo.

they were never going to finish it by the launch of qf3. it was always going to be another 12-18 months for completion. some work has started in the first class cupboard, but that is all at the present

So we can rename this thread "Auckland lounge to be refurbished some time in the distant future (if at all)", just like other Qantas promises (eg "Qantas fixes re-ticketing problems", "Qantas renovates SYDi J lounge" etc).
Surely in recognition of a recent popular thread title it would have to be something like “Will Qantas have a refurbished AKL Lounge in 2023?” ;)

Presumably flights via AKL may be a stop gap till Sunrise takes over the SYD-JFK flights unless flying via AKL is significantly cheaper and they can justify keeping this flight going.

In the lounge for the first (and probably last, unless the renovation is delayed further ) time today. Probably because of prior negative expectations, tbh was actually quite impressed, even though it was a lot busier than expected with the QF4 pax to SYD transiting through (including AJ). Very good service by lounge attendant Stephen who brought around the breakfast du jour (NYC bagel) along with multiple double espressos, much needed at this time of morning! Otherwise fairly similar to to the J lounge in terms of food and drink offerings, with the all important difference of Champagne (Piper) in the fridge. Good to see a Central Otago Pinot Noir in the rack also, not that I was having that at this time of day. A freezer full of NZ Capiti ice cream mini tubs also, which compare very favourably to the Maggie product served in J.

As long as you don’t expect this place to be in the same league as the SYD and MEL F lounges, it Is not a bad place to be before a flight. The (normally) quiet atmosphere is far preferable to the Fri pm SYD J lounge zoo.

I was also in there for the QF4 transit. Luckily I was the first from the flight through so could grab a shower (the other was already occupied). Hopefully there weren't many others keen for one.

Agreed the lounge wasn't overcrowded but the AKL transit was painful (at least 30.mins).

Chatted to the lovely lounge staff this early morning. She said there is still zero movement on renovations. And essentially it’s a monthly rolling deferral. Welcome September 2023!

Yea- in the lounge now. Staff has no clue and is rather annoyed about being asked by people. “We don’t have a lounge but a wall- at least we have a wall.” The wall she was referring to is a back wall in the Business part of the lounge which has a lovely picture of a modern lounge and says “New lounge coming soon”.

Meanwhile, food options dismal as always and no champagne in the first book. Instead, this:

EK open?

Unfortunately only opening around the time we board. Otherwise I’d enjoy their lovely food and drinks right now :p
With current schedules, really the only way is to fly QF158 departing 8pm+ to MEL.
