Having not qualified the past year to keep Elite Silver status I was a little put out when in January a letter arrived from SQ Krisflyer with a congratulations you are now a lowly Krisflyer blue. To add to the insult they included the blue card...sniff

Now the puzzle starts this morning in my email inbox. There is the email welcoming me to Elite Silver.
Dear prozac,

We are pleased to welcome you to a higher tier of KrisFlyer membership.

Your new KrisFlyer Elite Silver membership card and luggage tags will be delivered to you within 4 weeks. In the meantime, we hope you will continue to enjoy the benefits of KrisFlyer membership.

To say I am a little confused is an understatement. I have logged in and sure enough I am ES once more. I am afraid to blink least I wake up. ;)

That is strange.

Yeah, well don't go saying anything.;)
I am even breath-holding.

Like I was ever going to flash the new blue card when booking in. They'd have to wrench the old silver card from my dying hands...

No chance. It all stays here.

Same thing happened to me this week. I only had 5000 or so Elite Miles in the bank at the end of my qualifying year in Jan so dropped to Blue, but found the same "congratulations on Silver" e-mail in my Inbox yesterday.

I have 2 upcoming ADL-LHR return flights booked on SQ for 2014 - one is a miles redemption and the other one was booked via the SQ website using my KrisFlyer account (to minimise the typing in of passenger details etc.), but then modified prior to purchase so that it will credit to my Velocity account instead.

Not sure if Silver is just a computer glitch or whether it's deliberate (I was Gold for 2 or 3 years, ending a couple of years ago, if that was considered?). Word on the street is that SQ are not normally that generous, though????

I'll use my Velocity WP status ahead of KF Silver as Silver doesn't do much, but it's the thought that counts! KF Gold (and the associated *A benefits) would have been even nicer (in my dreams :))

Will be interesting to see if our ES cards arrive in the post then.

Would be a nice surprise if the card did arrive.

Pity about the program itself though. I sometimes even wonder why they have the KF Silver tier altogether but that applies to many *A Silver tiers in general I guess.

Agreed - nice to have, but I'll keep crediting to Velocity unless I know for sure that I'll be doing enough SQ flying to get to *A Gold, and even then, I'll be flashing the VFF WP card to get lounge access etc. while I'm racking up the KF miles and status.......

Is there any need to flash any card? I thought everything these days is in the system anyway.

The only reason why I thought you'd flash the card is for non-airline related activities these days. I.e. if you want to get a discount at Changi or S'pore in general while shopping (It makes me feel like a total cheap a$$ as I hand the PPS card and an AMEX card to pay for a Burger King cheeseburger)

All about not wanting to appear a cheap blue card holder having once had the silver. Who knows when checking in they might even feel sorry for me and give me an upgrade. "Did you see that guy? Another one can't let go. I am sure he was good looking once." Heaven knows what I would be like with Gold or WP. ;)

I don't need a tickle to make me giggle.:lol::lol: My Elite Silver card arrived today. Yeah I know it's not much for you frequent travelers, but I will take any crumbs that are offered.

How did you fare Caversham?
