Hi everyone,
Please excuse me if this question has already been discussed, but due to its importance I just wish to re-confirm to be sure given the latest discussion I found was in 2017.
Does AMEX still offer welcome points for applications made via referral links if you already hold another AMEX card? I am an explorer card holder and wish to apply for the AMEX Platinum card which offers a 225k MR welcome offer. It seems that the wordings are still very strict - that welcome offers are for NEW MEMBERS only. That said, the conclusion from the old post seems to be that you can bypass this restriction if you apply via a referral link...
I have had Amex cards in Canada, the US and Hong Kong when I worked and lived in these locations; none of the welcome bonus offered by AMEX restricted existing customers who hold a different type of AMEX cards but I know the rules are quite different here in Australia - so just want to check to be sure.
Any color / clarity would be much appreciated!
