Regional Express Delays/Cancellations

Continuing with Thursday 28 June 2018, ZL3257 (SAAB340B VH-KDV, the 0645 hours WGA down to MEL) may have been fogbound in Wagga Wagga as well as affected by a 'controlled departure' as it is arriving at 1244 hours, 284 minutes later than the scheduled 0800 hours. faster to travel down on the overnight NSWTrainLink XPT.

Later on Thursday 28 June 2018, ZL134, the 1640 hours MYA up to SYD that took off at 1713 with SAAB340B VH-ZJS is arriving 37 minutes tardy at 1817 hours.

Zl114, Friday 29 June's timetabled 0715 hours from MYAup to SYD took off at 0734 with SAAB340B VH-ZJS but arrival is delayed until about 0904, 49 late.

On Sunday 8 July 2018, ZL3492, the 1500 hours mid afternoon MEL - MIM got to beyond Healesville but turned back and landed at MEL at about 1605 hours, so obviously some problem. SAAB340B VH-KDV is the aircraft.

Medical emergency?

On Monday 9 July 2018, ZL3468 (SAAB340B VH-ZLQ, the scheduled 0700 hours MEL across to MIM did not take off until 0851 hours. Arrival is estimated as 1004 hours, 104 minutes tardy.

On Thursday 12 July 2018, ZL463, the 0830 hours SYD - GFF took off at 0944. SAAB340B should be allowing passengers to alight at roughly 1059 hours, 59 minutes tardy.

ZL3188 (1920 hours MEL - ABX, SAAB340B VH-PRX) took off at 2031 on Friday 13 July. Arrival is suggested as 2109 hours, 49 late.

Friday 20 July has been and continues to be very windy in SYD, restricting operations to runway 25 from the east.

ZL774 (1535 hours from ABX up to SYD) took off at 1803. With SAAB340 B VH-EKH in a holding pattern above Wombeyan caves at 1920, its chances of landing at the suggested time of 1937 (and being at the terminal at 1942 in lieu of the timetabled 1655) may be slim.

ZL179, the 1725 hours OAG across to SYD (VH-RXE) took off at 2029 on Friday 20 July and is arriving at 2134 hours, 199 late.

ZL165 (0910 hours morning OAG to SYD, not a lengthy flight) did not take off until 1206 hours. VH-ZRM should arrive at 1251, 171 minutes late. Quicker to drive or travel by NSWTrainLink coach/train, particularly if one's destination is not the airport.

The 1030 hours PKE to SYD (ZL519, VH-ZRK) ws in the sky at 1246 with the suggested arrival at 1334 to be 124 late.

Are some of these delays the result of Rex's pilot shortage about which it has complained?

Continuing with Monday 23 July, in the early evening at MEL winds have been gusting to 82kmh (44 knots) as ZL3574 (1620 hours afternooin flight from BWT across Bass Strait that took off at 1749 with VH-ZHU) looks to be arriving at 1912 hours, 97 late.

Rain has been working its way from Ceduna SA to Adelaide this arvo. ZL4396, the 1830 hours ADL - PLO (VH-ZXS) took off at about 2042. SAAB340B so will be almost two hours late into the tuna fishing capital.

On Friday 3 August 2018, ZL3653, the 0630 hours MQL down to MEL (SAAB340B VH-EKH) did not take off until 0705, so teh inevitable result is projected arrival at 0832, 42 late due to many planes ahead of it on approach.

ZL3752 has VH-RXN and is the identically timed departure from MGB that was airborne at 0717. Arrival in MEL should be 50 late at 0855 this morning.

The 0655 hours ABX down to MEL, ZL3151 has VH-KDQ and took off at 0725 for a suggested 0831 hours, 36 late arrival.

These may be 'controlled departures' by ATC.

VH-KDQ then took off on the 0825 hours MEL - ABX at 0916, with arrival of this ZL3152 suggested at 1003, 38 late.
