Regional Express Delays/Cancellations

ZL464 from NRA up to SYD is the 1105 hours, Friday 1 November flight that became airborne at 1154. VH-YRX should arrive at 1302 hours, 37 late.

The 0640 hours Saturday 2 November ABX down to MEL did not take off until 0802 with VH-NRX. Arrival is predicted as 72 late at 0852.

ZL3752 from MGB to MEL (VH-ZLG) is arriving 31 late at 0836 while the BWT to MEL ZL3554 (VH-ZLS) is worse, with predicted arrival 0846, 61 late.

MEL looks to be on single runway ops again, as it was yesterday. Saturday mornings are typically not as busy as weekdays, but Spring carnival racing creates some passenger demand. Many aircraft are holding on approach. It's rainy.

On Friday 8 November 2019, ZL3763 (0835 hours MEL across to MFGB) is predicted to depart very late at 1145 hours.

Mich later on 8 November, SYD in the evening is down to using only runway 25 (arrivals from the east) due to strong winds (which were predicted by BOM). ZL674 from WGA to SYD, the 1710 hours, did not take off until 1850. SAAB 340B VH-ZLF was still holding at 1950 hours so FR24's claimed arrival time of 1954 is impossible. The timetable says '1820 hours' so it's getting on for two hours late, and won't have an infinite amount of fuel on board.

The mid evening of Tuesday 12 November 2019 sees winds of up to 54kmh affecting SYD operations. ZL188 (early evening 1910 hours SYD - OAG in the sky at 2101) has SAAB 340B VH-PRX with mooted arrival 2141, 101 minutes tardy.

Wednesday 13 November has ZL2377, the 1825 hours early evening PER - ESP airborne at 1920 with VH-ZLA. Arrival should be at 2039, 39 late.

ZL534 from SYD to PKE (which I always think should have an 's' added) is the 1915 hours Tuesday 19 December, airborne at 2027. Arrival is 2119, 59 minutes late for VH-ZPA.

ZL3752, the 0630 hours MGB - MEL took off at 0732 hours on Thursday 21 November 2019 with SAAB 340B VH-EKX. Expected arrival is 58 minutes behind schedule at 0903 hours.

The MQL down to MEL is not quite as late, but arrival of ZL3653 (ZH-RXE) will be 45 minutes behind at 0835.

UPDATE: VH_RXE then operated to MGB, with the return (MGB to MEL) ZL3764, the 0935 hours, taking off at 1028 with arrival at MEL (where winds are gusting up to 61kmh) at an expected 1206 hours, 51 minutes behind schedule.

With winds gusting on Thursday 21 November at MEL at between 70 and 87kmh, there were many delays. As a consequence, on Friday 22 November, ZL3554, the 0745 hours MEL arrival from BWT is expected to arrive at 0813, while ZL3653 from MQL to MEL is far worse with arrival suggested as 210 minutes late at 1120 hours.

There are many delays on the afternoon and into the early evening of Friday 22 November. ZL178, the 1615 hours SYD across to OAG did not become airborne until 1802 so arrival is put back to an expected 1843 hours, 98 minutes late for SAAB 340B VH-ZPA.

ZL134, the 1640 hours MYA - SYD was airborne at 1701 hours, only about 10 late, with VH-ZRZ> After extensive holding north of the Wombeyan Caves, arrival should be 1841. Some other aircraft have diverted to airfields such as CBR. Thanks to AFFer jeza for advising that these delays are due to SYD earlier being closed due to thunder and lightning.

The WGA up to SYD ZL674 (VH-EKH) is arriving at 1852 hours, 32 minutes tardy.

ZL3468, the 0700 hours Saturday 23 November MEL - MIM is predicted to depart 210 minutes late at 1030 hours midmorning.

On Saturday 23 November, ZL313 , the 0830 hours GFN down to SYD took off at 1056 so arrival should be 1211 hours, 131 minutes behind schedule. Aircraft is VH-VXK. Its forst sector was from LSY to GFN, the scheduled 0740 hours airborne at 1005. The delay is due to yesterday's bad weather (thunderstorms and lighning causing SYD to be closed for a while in the late afternoon) that saw ZL344 from SYD to GFN and LSY not arrive at the latter until 2325 hours, 210 minutes later than the timetabled 1955. The crew would then have required the mandated 10 hours' minimum rest.

Sunday 24 November finds ZL928, the 1555 hours afternoon SYD to drought-hit ARM not airborne until 1728. SAAB 340B should arrive at 1833 hours, 73 minutes behind the timetable.

ZL677 (VH-ZLO, the 1655 hours SYD down to WGA in the sky at 1751 hours) should arrive at 1854 hours, 44 minutes tardy.

The OAG to SYD ZL149 has VH-ZLS with a 32 minute late, 1847 hours arrival predicted.

Later on 24 November, ZL783, the early evening SYD down to ABX (1815 hours) was airborne at 1918 with VH-ZRL. Arrival 50 late at 2030 is the suggestion.

On a stormy Monday 25 November afternoon and early evening in Sydney, ZL472, the 1640 hours GFF - SYD was in the sky at 1736 with SAAB 340B VH-ZRZ. Arrival should be at about 1854, 54 late as many other aircraft have had to hold on approach and so there's quite a deal of congestion in the sky.

The MYA up to SYD ZL134 (the 1640 hours airborne at 1717, VH-ZXF) should arrive at 1846, 66 late.

Continuing with the huge delays of Monday 25 November 2019, ZL477 from SYD to GFF, the 1855 hours, took off at 2133 mid evening with SAAB 340B VH-ZXU. Arrival is predicted as 2251, 146 minutes late. This crew should then operate tomorrow morning's ZL454, the 0650 hours GFF - SYD, but given they require 10 hours off duty, it may not be able to depart until around 0845 hours.

ZL836, the 1905 hours SYD - DBO is isimilar, having become airborne at 2153 with VH-ZXK. Arrival looks to be 2251, 156 late. Again, because this crew IIRC operate the scheduled 0630 hours (ZL821) ex DBO, it may be delayed until about 0900 tomorrow morning. This is one of the downsides of rural aviation.

VH-ZLO on ZL678, the 1830 hours early evening WGA to SYD took off at 2101 and after an extensive hold to Sydney's west is arriving at 2256 hours, 196 minutes late.

ZL164, the Tuesday 26 November 0750 hours SYD - OAG took off at 0837 with VH-ZLW< so arrival is estimated as 0918 hours, 38 minutes tardy.

ZL454 on Tuesday 26 took off from GFF at 0955, even later than I'd assumed, arriving SYD at 1113 hours, 183 minutes late due to yesterday's opposite direction flight being so delayed as above.

Similarly, ZL821, the scheduled 0630 hours from DBO to SYD pointed skywards at 0942 hours, arriving at 1044, 184 (not 183) minutes late, again due to the unpunctuality of yesterday.

Tuesday's MIM up to SYD ZL718, the 1110 hours took off mid afternoon at 1522 with VH-ZRZ and should arrive at about 1657 hours, 272 minutes behind schedule.

Also on 26 November, ZL526 was up up and away at 1757 hours, almost 90 late. It has VH-RXS and is the scheduled 1615 hours SYD - PKE that is timetabled to arrive at 1720 hours.

During the evening of 26 November - another day of delays due to adevrse weather - ZL534 (VH-ZHG, SAAB 340B - as the 1915 hours SYD - PKE took off at 2156 so arrival will be about 2255, 155 minutes late For the past three days, the 0630 hours PKE - SYD ZL517 has arrived SYD 1`62, 117 and yesterday 44 minutes late due to crew requiring a minimumof 10 hours off duty. Tomorrow should be badly delayed as well.

ZL188 (VH-RXS, the 1910 hours SYD to OAG) had commenced taxiing by 2216 so will be about three hours late arriving.
