Regional qantas club

I was in the Mackay regional lounge last Sat morning. First time there. Sure it doesn't quite meet the First lounges standard, but, after getting the wife a real coffee from outside, we then got to enjoy what for me is a huge benefit. We sat with our kids (who love the little fruitcake, etc snacks) in a peaceful secluded area away from the hordes of tattoed riff raff that were infesting the main departure lounge. I value that very highly.

During the week the riff raff are in the QP, which is why I sit outside with a drink from the Barra Pond.

I was recently in the QP Broome at around 0930.

Hardly the F lounge either but it had one saving grace. They had run out of brewed coffee and we could not find anyone to refill the coffee but we did find that although there was a sign stating bar opening at 1200 it was not actually locked and the drinks were fully accessable :!: :D :D

Are regional Qantas lounges subject to the same entry rules for Platinums as the non-regional lounges? I'm wondering if I can get off a PER-KGI flight and access the lounge there.

If the code stays the same, I am sure someone on here could send it to you. Bit Cheeky but oh well. There is not much to the lounge at KGI at all.

Again, another suggestion on here to screw the system

Thats why benefits are removed...abuse of priveliges :(

Was at Mackay last Sunday 4th for a QantasLink flight to BNE, am a WP member. The staff member informed me that only members were allowed in the lounge. I advise her that I can take a guest, she then showed me a couple signs on the door saying that only members allowed in and no guests. Was not happy, wrote email to Qantas about the issue. Got a email from them the other day saying sorry this should not of happaned. Still not happy with the reply as it should not have happened, in the 1st place. I understand the lounge is small etc but it was a Sunday morning, no body around so am sure a guest would of been okay.

Was the guest traveling on QF?

At least you have a Regional Q Club, over a million passengers thru Newcastle, majority either Jetstar or Qantas Link with Virgin and Brindabella filling the rest, no club, nada, nuffink. sob sob, i'd like a cuppa instant and would boil the jug AND wipe up after myself, I promise :p

I'm hearing ya :D
Hopefully QF is listening, for now just have to be content with the airport bar :(

Was at Mackay .... The staff member informed me that only members were allowed in the lounge. ....

There must be something in the sea air up there!

My first visit there, after checking in, I asked the young lady for directions to the lounge. She immediately replied that it was only for people travelling on a Qantas/etc flight that day. This was the person who had only just processed us for the checkin procedure!! I gave her a funny look and she realised how silly that was. But then she said I had to be a QFF blah blah member. Handed her my WP card and she seemed embarrassed and showed us in.

It's almost like they either don't like people in there or few use it. Possibly the latter as it is the most cunningly concealed lounge I have ever seen. But as per previous post, it was still nice to get some peace and quiet in there :)

Hi Markis,
Yes was travelling with me.

Wow at least you have a regional lounge, I fly in and out of Wagga twice a month and we don't have a lounge, I always think I only get 50% of the value others do on their Qantas Club membership.

Haha, this is a timely post.
Last week I was working in Karratha and stopped by the lounge at KTA on the way home. It was Friday around 9:00am, probably the busiest day for QF due to FIFOs going home to Perth.

The three most important things to me in a lounge are:
  • Available seating
  • Coffee
  • Wireless internet
This is before I even think about food.
Seating and internet were fine, even though the lounge is not particularly glam and has no outlook to speak of. The worst thing was the coffee. There was an empty filter coffee machine, with no supplies in sight, and no staff around. Looked like it hadn't been used for a while. There was a grubby looking, unlabelled jar of instant coffee next to a kettle, with some paper cups. Gross.
i ended up forgoing the 'coffee' altogether and having a Diet Coke - breakfast of champions. :)

Debated whether to give QF some feedback about the coffee situation.. did not want to seem like a princess (even though clearly I am ). Anyway, decided to give them a few compliments about all the things I love about QF, with a little comment asking for proper coffee in KTA at the end.
Got a call on Thursday (sent in the email on Monday) thanking me for providing feedback and assuring me they would sort it out.
Constructive criticism always seems to go down better with a bit of sugar =)

No worries, with regional lounges it's a requirement that the guest flys QF for some reason.
I've seen some VERY popular people in regional lounges who are guested into the QP in groups of 5 or 6.
