That's the most expensive corkage charge I've ever come across. They are really trying to promote their own wines I guess.

I have an as yet unsubstantiated $15.00 per head charge in my neck of the woods. !

ISTR there being a $10 per bottle charge for BYO listed on the menu last Sunday at HuTong - not that it affected the mob of tea drinkers we had there.

I downloaded their wine list and they seem to have a good selection there.
Also, it says BYO $15 :( now that's a rip-off!

I miss the days when BYO was free...

I guess it's just like a tax because they want to make their money somehow.

Indeed.

I was at Big Boy BBQ yesterday and their BYO charge was a much more reasonable $1/person.

Is BYO really free for the restaurant? They're expected to provide glasses etc which all cost to maintain etc. Plus as you've mentioned they have their own wine selection which they want to sell.

Holiday Inn Chiang Mai wanted to charge 300baht corkage for a 250baht bottle of wine.

Just as well we had an inside contact.

And the cost of the liquor licence itself which I gather must be significant?

One more to the numbers. I have a mate coming along who's going to the footy with me after.

The booking is under the name "Goodonya"

Regrettably, I can't make it again this month, but I'm really looking forward to the chopstick challenge when the opportunity arises! Lol

No worries. Will we be using generic chopsticks as supplied by the restaurant to be on neutral ground, or will we be using custom made-to-measure fitted chopsticks, or for a real challenge we could use left-handed chopsticks

Do we get Cool Cat Phil a pair of training chopsticks? :p

Goodonya, blackcat20 and I are here. Down the back and to the right, next to the fish tanks.
