Relaxed Access Rules for J Lounge

Oversized? Why is that a problem?

There are no couches but there are the recliners overlooking the main check in area.

Sorry, perhaps I didn't express that clearly - it felt like part of the gate area rather than a lounge, our main concern was that the spaces weren't more cozy (size of each area, seating and lighting being the factors involved).

Don't get me wrong, it was certainly nice, and I assume far better than the QP - I guess I just had different expectations given how difficult it appears to be to get into, especially since they only relaxed the WP access rules recently.

...and when the economy picks up and they strictly enforce the rules again, we'll get to read about it on a thread about whether the value of status is being watered down :)

You won't hear it from me. ;) In my opinion the domestic business lounges are nothing special.

What disappoints me is hearing that the opening hours of the bar has been pushed back to 2:00pm. I don't travel early that often but when I do travel I would like to have a drink before getting on the aircraft....

That may be for QPs only; not the J lounges. I'll be checking this out shortly having an imminent 2pm flight out of MEL ...

Twice I was at SYD J lounge recently, there was no hot food. Is that the norm there, or did I catch it 'at the wrong time'?

Hot food after 5:00pm and if any leftover I think it gets cleared away ~7:00pm.

Only after 5pm - that's much worse than BNE!
They have some for breakfast (if those pancakes count) and from about 12pm onwards for 'proper' hot food.

Do they leave hot food all afternoon? I think the J lounge has hot food over lunch not just the evenings.

Not sure if it's all afternoon, but I recall having hot food at most time of the afternoon and evening at BNE.

2 hours of hot food? That's a bit harsh. We arrived just before 8pm, and all that was left was antipasto and cheese. I'd have been serenading the lounge dragons if there were at least one edible hot dish for dinner.
