Renew Points Club / Points Club Plus - worth it ?

If you have hotel loyalty points they can also be used to boost PC. I have some useless hotel rewards points I keep in reserve so if I am close but not quite there I can transfer some to QFF(PC) to get over the line. Only had to do it first year. Still got a stack of the hotel points if I need them in them future. I keep them current by purchasing $10 worth when the hotel chain has a double points purchase promotion.

I was PC+ for years and also gold thanks to extensions. Now i dont work and i cant roll credit cards im preparing to lose PC+. On my 2nd last day i will buy $2500 dollars worth of wine with my 10% discount included and get 150k points and the points should arrive in the new period.

I really only need enough points to fly J Rewards to asia and back 1-2 times a year so wine should cover that. I think both PC+ and status are probably not required if you just fly J reward (excluding availability of seats from Silver level)

Hiya this won’t work sadly - your points will be dated back to the time of purchase so won’t credit to the new year - also Qantas uses UTC time.

oh damn.. thanks for letting me know. I have 150k points from wine this year to earn PC but 200k more in 8 months to retain PC+. I only buy wine but to spend 4k on more wine is probably not worth it, only to have to do it all again the year later even if i have to spend 10% more.

my PC+ expires this month, i've used the hotel and wine vouchers and QANTAS club on a couple trips. Also, made some ACCOR bookings while gifted gold.

i don't think the above compensates me enough against the opportunity cost of directing my efforts to other programs.

i've earned 15,000 points this year, not worth saving more QFF points which are hard to use when i'm struggling to earn enough Kris/VFF points for rewards i can actually book.

will probably wait until my QFF points balance drops before going for Points club again.

If you churn 3 black level CC across 6 months, you will about get to 300k points. The application of the first card can be before the start of you FF anniversary, as long as the bonus hits the account after it. The remaining 50k is easily done via normal earning, gift card , holiday and wine purchases in parallel. During the 6 months, thel CC should given you a steady supply of lounge invitation and Priority passes. I do classic rewards biz during the 6 months too for lounge access.

Not a bad idea, the exchange rates can be atrocious but if you value PC and have no other use for the hotel points, can be worth it! I did the same with a few in reserve last year, fortunately didn't end up needing them

How long does it take for the hotel voucher to come through once you hit PC?
Parallel discussion happening here.

Have you requalified or qualified for the first time? Requal the benefits appear on or just after QFF anniversary date. First time, you should get benefits a few days later.

I am in a different boat than seemingly all.
PC+ and Gold Status for another 12 months.

Retired from work and flying less hence my only option is to let gold lapse to silver while keeping PC+. Twice a year in May and October the wine lady will provide an extra 10k points per $1000 spend.
Assuming i can get wine at 50 Point per dollar, with $6000 in wine i should net 18 cases of wine, 300,000k points + 90k bonus points. This keeps me wined up, keeps my J rewards ongoing and keeps me in the lounge.
Much easier than maintaining Gold.. Thoughts?

Run the numbers to buying Qantas club, as that's effectively what you're doing - only other thing you miss is Oneworld status if you do any international travel

Honestly if you're flying J exclusively, PCP is of little value besides a few vouchers here and there. It then just becomes a numbers game whether the wine for its price is worth it and if you can find the redemption flights.

The biggest value in your case would likely be the 10% discount offered to PCP members.
