Interesting the current booking reservation says 4+ days rate?
WTF?
The website has a 5+ day rate and it is 15%.
Told our new CORP rate is 15% off base rate.

Still trying to work out why the current total(as all conditions look the same) is 1/2 the usual cost......could be 10 YEARS of back payment if I discover ACCC needs to get involved :/

Good luck getting the ACCC involved. They are as useless as a wet week!

ACCC???? Dear me. Should I call in the ACCC for every time I paid $130 or more for a Red-e fare to fly to Melbourne instead of $99 seeing as that's what I booked a flight for recently? Prices fluctuate! Same deal with hotels. Sometimes I get a room at my usual digs in Melbourne for $180 a night, sometimes a fair bit more than that. Depends on supply and demand.

Europcar quoted you prices previously that were much more than you've been quoted this particular time. You accepted those previous quotes and made bookings accordingly. There's no conspiracy. This time you lucked out with a cheaper quote. You got lucky. Happens to the best of us when the stars align.

Can someone please explain....why the following?

The booking made via the phone, Europcar should have all the info on had after supplying ID number.
1. Booked 10 day car with Corp 15% and Free Elite status upgrade.
2. Car booked is Accent at $387 including Credit fee and $1600 Excess

I then and went and did a dummy booking on website:
1. Same car, place and time using 15% 5+ more promo
2. Total $362.42 BUT $3500 excess and no option to decrease to $1600

So will the UPGRADE come on pickup?

Comments please...back on the phone or not due to excess being lower?

Did you add your Privilege program number to your online booking? If so conditions should be identical unless you also added a coupon code or some other variation.

Was the dummy booking pay now or pay later?

I would suggest there's plenty of availability (hence the available low public rate) and that you're paying for the lower excess (not available to the public).

If you want the cheaper rate/ higher excess offer, why get steamed up and instead just book it?

Another Update and this really has become a joke!

So I get onto the account manager back from holiday on first ring......miracle!
Then after discussion, even though the current booking has Retail 4+ days......they have received the Corp 15% off.
Obviously booking a certain amount of days out, the charge is less....still have not clarified how many days out is ideal ie. 5 or 7 days from booking?

This is were things turned ugly.
On moving to 15% corp rate suddenly their $1650 excess has been returned to $3500.
Also because they are an Elite Status, could actually be getting 20% off base rate, but no Corp account.
It's small/med business to 50K rental that get 15% and goes up from there.

So currently have new account manager reviewing history as I told them that they were getting 10% off and $1650 Excess for past 6 months.
The account manager believes they were on a fixed rate to get the excess reduction, which I believe to be incorrect.

So not having a Corp account and Elite Status if we don't get the Excess reduction will be the best discount.

The only positive outcome is that they did receive the upgrade car to Golf.....

Can I please have some info or a link to purchasing Hire car insurance on via a company.....have seen another thread running.
There was the ANZ credit card that reduced Excess?

LOL I am not sure why you expect special treatment to the thousands of other people renting daily throughout Australia

Take the hint, they don't' care about you

So the account manager gets back and says:

They were on a Plan that reduced the excess.

Awaiting response to see if Plan and Elite benefits can be received?

Hi Merry xmas before I get into my rant for the day.

So family member Elite customer to the extent that the staff in Melbourne just hand the keys to the best car either 1 or two upgrades always with cruise control.
Book two weeks in advance for Perth in xmas.
Get to the Perth airport counter and initially treated as you possibly could not be hiring a car until seeing Elite status.
Then told that from a I20 booking only free upgrade option left is to a Hyundai Accent or $10 extra a day to get an Audi.
Some excuse that Perth not as big as Melbourne and that peak time....no response when informed booked two weeks ago.
Just letting all know including EUROPCAR that ACCENTS are cough!
No cruise control and aircon is the worst I have used in a new car also drives heavy for front wheel drive.
Where are the I30's, Golf we get in Melbourne??????
I thought Perth was mining...getting the best of the best.
Close to writing to Europcar to complain and will be very interested to see what this 2014 updates to the program are?
