As a happy DJ SMed customer, I'll requalify as platinum in January. So what do I do with my SCs from then until August? My family only fly with me, so no point giving them SCs or going for partner Platinum.

Is there another FF program that I could credit DJ domestic SCs to? Or should I just enjoy the platinum bonus miles and waste 7 or 8 months of SC earning?

If your family travel with you there are 4 extra upgrades (for your partner) with PP. Otherwise you could consider crediting to NZ or Etihad or even SQ in future - i haven't really looked into any of these options but i would welcome the thoughts from those who have.

This begs the question of VA/DJ - "Are there any plans for lifetime recognition?".

Isn't it a rolling program so that when you hit 800 SCs in a 12 month period that defers your requal date again?

There is some benefit as if you obtain partner Platinum, as mentioned earlier you will get extra upgrades travelling together, also you will then be able to get extra points (100% bonus) by your partner getting partner platinum.

My wife only flies perhaps twice a year, so the benefit just isn't there for her; I'm struggling to see how I'll use the upgrades, so she'd have no chance of using hers. Now if the upgrades applied on trans-tasman flights, it'd be a little more useful

Lifetime status would be nice, or earning some status on *A for trips further afield.
