Requesting AirNZ status matches

....they only matched me to Gold rather than Gold Elite, but it seems in line with other members in this forum who've applied for an AirNZ match recently. .....

Yeah, I got a match about a month ago - from QFF WP - they gave me Gold also. But was very happy none the less - they were very quick (about a week?) - and on a recent work trip around NZ the Koru lounges were in general very good. Did a few stops in CHC and their beautiful bread, cheese platters, and red wine were all I needed! And good internet.

It makes commonsense for status matching. I do way too much transpacific travel for one's health, frequently in Y or PE, and I simply could not bear the thought of suffering even one trip without lounge access. So without the status match I would never have booked flights with another company. So for the price of a couple of pieces of bread, a small slab of cheese, and a bottle of red, they have secured some decent ticket sales!!

I am planning a trip to USA in J in mar 2012 and got a status match from Qantas wp to Gold elite

Hi there. Can anyone tell me how long their NZ status match lasts for please. Is it one year from when you requested it, or does it last as long as the airline status you're coming from? Also, do you need 810 or 900 SPs to requalify? Cheers!

From my experience from a couple of years ago (to Gold Elite), you get the status for 12 months from when it is granted. In that time I needed to get the full amount of SP's to qualify for the subsequent year.

I applied during this week, got an email on Friday confirming that they would love to have me as a Gold Elite (equiv to platinum with QF). Even offered to email me a letter of authority for any upcoming flights if I don't get my card in time

Aside from lounge access I don;t know why one would bother ... AirNZ has gutted Airpoints - yesterday they announced the demise of Airpoints Standby Upgrades - the only thing keeping me interested in GE.

Air NZ is part of the *A program so if you don't have status with any other partners then it could be a great benefit . Also the extra luggage .

I missed the email address because of the format but I have it now. Thank you.

It should be noted that NZ has rolled back the changes referred to by Serfty for GE members, and this is detailed in the aforementioned thread.
Not really, While GE will now be able submit standby upgrade requests, these will be at the bottom of the queue and only assessed after all other requests have been exhausted - so it's a fob off/panacea.

Currently I have a booking LAX-xAKL-MEL-xAKL-LAX for April and June with the LAX/AKL legs already confirmed into Business Premium and seats selected. One of these was done with "Recognition Upgrades" - that won't change, the other was done with Airpoints - that is changing. Moreover, I won't be able to upgrade two classes with air-points any more.

I have put in for this status match with Skywards Gold (cause i've got more flights SYD-AKL with EK than with QF...). I sent an email yesterday so hopefully i'll hear back soon.

I also submitted a status match for SAS (as they are running a promo), and the Etihad promotion from about a month ago. Will post with updates.

SAS will come through at base and a week or so later with the actual match. My dad received his card in the mail this week.

Awesome, did he take advantage of the China/HK promotion or is there a different one? The promotion I applied for was only for HK or mainland china addresses, which I have one of :)

HK one, my parents live and work in Hong Kong.

Of course, he matched MPC Diamond and only got Gold, because that’s as high a tier as they offer.

Just an update everyone.

Got confirmation of status match to Airpoints Gold today. Initially tried to match with Emirates, but after a few emails back and forth asking about my future travel plans, and showing them my Qantas Gold statement, they matched me this morning.
