Re: Research & book AA "Non-refundable "/"Instant Upgrade"/"YUPP" fare to maximise SC

Help please. How many status credits for WP and SG flying "First" Vancouver - LAX - Honolulu.

SC's are the same no matter the QF level.

LAX-HNL picks up 150 on an AA ticket.

YVR-LAX I think nets 60.

Re: Research & book AA "Non-refundable "/"Instant Upgrade"/"YUPP" fare to maximise SC

Recent trip definitely nets 90 SC for YVR to LAX. But as others have said make sure it's def on AA code. I got burned once when I didnt check carefully enough and booked onto an AS code. I also noted that when I last booked AA.com now tended to want to put me on the old US air flights from YVR which are on a CRJ90 and often book into J not F. Not sure if that's still the case.

Sigh. Complicated. Wasn't it supposed to be simpler and fairer? So even if booking on AA site, if the flights are on Alaska Airlines metal its a big fat Zero even if AA flight code? Or is it like the Emirates thing where Q code gives you credits?

If the flights are on AA metal then we are earning.

The calculator actually work for these routes (unlike some others which aren't loaded). AA flight number will earn SCs.

You should get points as long as its an AA code (even on Alaska metal), correct me if I'm wrong.

+1, just make sure it is an AA flight code and all is good. When booking I like to double check the Fare class and plane type too. But as I said I got burnt once by not checking and only realised that I had accidentally chosen the cheaper AS code

Re: Research & book AA "Non-refundable "/"Instant Upgrade"/"YUPP" fare to maximise SC

Excellent. Thankyou everyone! Off to book. And cancel what is now a dud Y aa advantage points booking.

Re: Research & book AA "Non-refundable "/"Instant Upgrade"/"YUPP" fare to maximise SC

The calculator says 90 for AA flights. 0 for AS flights.

True, if the sector is in F. If operated by AA the flight will be in J and earns 60SC.

OK, so will this Flight booking accrue status credits?

I have used our QFF numbers in the booking on US aa.com

yes you will. The YVR-LAX leg unfortunately is in J class so only 60 SC. the flight to HNL will accrue first SC.

Thankyou. Thought the Compass air thing might had added an extra layer of complexity. I cant see any F from Anchorage without routing round the US!

Yeah, that was the same flight I was on. Compass Air is to American Eagle what Eastern Airlines is to QantasLink. As long as it's an AA code (which it is) you'll get your SC. albeit only business. Shame about those 30 SC. luckily when I got moved to this flight from an AS operated flight I could claim ORC.

Yeah - i noticed that after you mentioned AA metal being in business. The AA codeshare on AS metal doesn't come up for flights YVR-LAX-HNL.

I've noticed since the merger with US airlines that the AA.com website doesn't like to give AS metal flights as a connecting option anymore unless you're taking the last flight of the day from YVR. Maybe you can chose the AS metal codeshare flights if you check the schedule box instead of price. I haven't checked as often recently since moving back to Oz from YVR.

I picked a random date in Feb just for the YVR-LAX sector (not connecting to HNL) and only a single AS flight was displayed. The rest were all AA metal, or via PHX on AA metal. A change from the multitude of AS (AA coded) flights that were previously available pre-merger.

I have an F flight LAX-YVR AA code on AS booked within the last month. Multiple options shown on AA.com. Mine was booked via my TA. I don't know if this is an anomaly to the reverse trip. That has been booked with AA via PHX.

I think going from LAX-YVR it definitely gives more AS metal options, for some reason they don't like you using AS going back and would much rather you fly on the AA metal in J class. Perhaps a timing issue.

I have YVR-PHX-SFO in January all on AA metal. J to PHX and then F to SFO.

You going Skiing Fi? We are at Whistler for 10 days in January. First time for SWMBO and the kids skiing.
