I purchased 6 x Curtis Martins Vineyard Limited Series Shiraz 2020 from QF wine store last week because I needed 30k points fast, but don't really want to hang on to $600 worth of wine.

30,000 points purchased for $600, so free wine, effectively.

Use them as gifts would be my first thought.

If you know of an upcoming charity auction for any organization that you have some connection to, donate them into that. You might even be able to get a tax deduction for it.

But if you really want to sell them, look at eBay and FB Marketplace. What you will also see when you look at these sites is that they are awash with wine for sale (no pun intended).

Can you also sell them on GumTree?

I spent $5250 for 11 cases of this wine, with 11 bottles of Chivas XV included for a tidy sum of 349,000 points. Although this wine can be had for 35 per bottle it is of higher quality than the other Qantas wines i have. For the 58 points per dollar it was advertised for its a nice drop and fulfilled my yearly shopping for PC+.

As for the wine, like others have mentioned, it's definitely not worth the price that Qantas suggest. That being said, if I recall correctly, it ended up earning bonus points in the vicinity of 1.78c/point (and even cheaper if you're PC+). In that respect, it was a decent deal. I've previously purchased the same wine and have honestly found it quite decent. Just make sure you view the purchase from the perspective of purchasing FF points with a bonus delivery of wine. I also agree with others that if you don't want to drink it yourself, then gifting/donating is a great option.

A lot of the wines with big bonus point hauls are what I like to call 'Persian Rug wines'. 'At the cellar door, it's $120 a bottle, our normal price is $80 but for you, today only, we'll throw in $50 worth of Qantas points.'

In other words, treat your '$80' bottle of wine as a $30 bottle of wine, enjoy it as a quaffer and save the good stuff for the business or first class flights you'll book with the points you got.

How long do bonus points take to come into your account? I know some partner rewards like Kogan etc take 3 months. Just wondering if worth trying to maintain points club this year using wine.

I can’t remember exactly but IIRC it’s very fast. I may have even got the points before the wine.

Typically one to two business days after order IME. As with @justinbrett I usually get the points before the wine.

Getting wine while not as good as credit card sign-up bonuses, is not a bad way of acquiring points and usually cheaper than buying points (so only do that if you need points then and there).

Points have usually hit my account at the same time I receive the shipping confirmation. Maybe when the order is actually picked + packed it triggers it?
