Just got off the phone to try and book my free annual flight between selected capital cities once you have used the card on Qantas fares etc.
Don't hold your breath about the choices .
I had a choice of flying out of Canberra or Brisbane .
From CBR, only selected cities were Sydney and Melbourne ,Brisbane not included .
Out of Brisbane, only options were Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne!
Not the greatest of choices. The agent told me that she can only book according to the template she accesses on her link to Qantas.
I foolishly did not check on the allowed destinations before I signed up with the Ultimate card.
Along with the reduced points earnings and ,the often hefty surcharges made at some places for Amex, it should not be surprising for Amex to see my spend fall to the bare minimum.
