Revamped Melbourne lounge

I looked a bit more closely at those, I think they must be to get up/down a half level into the Club due to a mismatch between inside floor level and roadway level

Yes, That's what I was considering - they really are not long enough.

Mind you given that security is after the lounge in MEL and with new premium security at that, I am not sure what advantage kerbside entry would bring.

The kerbside entry in MEL saves from having to deal with the great unwashed in the main departures hall. Us regulars still have to go through the main enterance and down the escalator to escape to the Lounge.

Was going to take a photo but iPhone battery was flat, but what looks like the elevated walkway from the Lounge to the "B" pier (gates 11 to 19) is well progressed.

So both piers will have security clearance from the Lounge

I saw that yesterday. I'm pretty sure it's a temporary access to the other pier while they knock down and build the new terminal. I don't think it's a dedicated lounge exit. Could be wrong.

I think you are correct as this fits with what seems to be the approach to the T4 construction project.

Im here now , and quite impressed with expansion , albeit with some construction still going on . It will be a great area once its all finished.

The next question is will the direct gate access be available to all in the VA lounge, or only gold, platinum & J like the premium entry in SYD

My guess is that it will be the same as SYD , to maintain a consistent product & benefit for Golds , Plats & J

Fingers crossed! Otherwise if it's a flight to OOL it might be quicker to walk out and go through normal priority! :p

I had a quick look on Tuesday, didn't take any pics though. From what I could see the wine bar is of a similar design to the espresso bar with the timber feature in the ceiling above, and is located at the other (southern) end of the lounge.

Are the direct access security gates open?

I'll be through on Saturday Morning to have a look.
