Review date and new card while travelling

Hi folks,

My review date lies just before I have a long trip starting, and I'd like to get my hands on a new card before the old one expires, as even if I manage to convince partner airline staff that VFF really is stupid enough to have a 'review date' instead of an 'expiry date' on their cards, I'll be away until after the card really does expire.

I already have the SCs and sectors to requalify as WP - has anyone else run into this? Anything that can be done if I talk to VFF, maybe?

Cheers,

Danny

In a similar situation after calling the GCC VA provided me a formal signed letter confirming I was current and eligible but currently without card (I had no card for 3mo as I was based OS temporarily). In reality it was never needed at DL and SQ as I was already in their systems as being current. I did need to show it for EY but they accepted it without issue.

One of the good things about being WP is that at the very least most will know that you should still at least get SG perks, even if you hadn't re-qualified (at EY I got the WP lounge, not SG - so they actually accepted the letter).

Thanks grubbidok! Will try the GCC - do you recall whether you did it via the platinum folks or the normal call centre?

I'm in the same boat, my review date is July 20 & my card expiry date is August 20 and I will be traveling as of August 6.

If you're an iPhone user, the other option is to use the Virgin Australia app which allows you to bring up a digital version of your membership card showing both your review & expiry dates as well as including the QR code. If you're concerned that you might not have wifi access when you need to "flash" the card you can always take a photo of the card beforehand.

Apparently Virgin are supposed to be coming out with a digital membership card later this year that you'll be able to add to your Apple wallet on your phone. Well overdue considering other airlines have made this feature available.

Oh, nice - I'd forgotten about the app. That will help I think, I am mainly worried about the US, and my guess would the Delta folks there are used to digital cards by now!

In the US I used a screenshot of my WP card from a friends app, Mum also used a screenshot of her SG card, both were accepted in Delta lounges.

The Delta folks are ok with digital cards, their own card is available with the Apple digital wallet.

It was with Platinum, though required a few redirects so not entirely sure where I ended up. This is the letter they providedVA Letter.png

Thanks grubbidok! I am not flying frequently on the trip so I think I'll just rely on the app - it's really only a couple of flights that might be an issue, and the delta lounges are not so exciting that I'll be devastated if I don't get in.

TBH rtyuiop you shouldn't need anything but your number for DL. Once they enter that into their system it recognises you automatically.
