Just an update on this. EK flights are showing up now but still can get only as far as Sydney unless I want some 10 hour, 2 stop trip from SYD to ADL. So It's looking like it will be points to SYD with a paid flight back home.
End result will be 420k in points and $3400 for the taxes and Sydney to Adelaide flight. Somehow this wasn't what I expected.....
