Anyone posted this one?
Regional Express has stopped selling seats on its jets for the next two weeks, with the future of the airline known as Rex in the balance.

Two sources speaking on condition of anonymity said EY was working with the carrier and was likely to be appointed administrators. Rex has already stopped selling tickets between major cities, with the board is set to meet on Tuesday evening.

Just went to rex to try and use up my points… all flights SYD-MEL listed as ‘sold out’ or ‘unavailable’, and the return is just… blank! with a big red cross.
Can still see flights for today.

It would be interesting to be on their last 737 flight. But I don't feel like potentially kissing goodbye to $100.

Wouldnt mind betting background negotiations occurring with govmt on regional flights and associated subsidies

judging by what the prime Minister has said, that would sound right. I hope so.

I've spoken to a few employees and they still haven't been told anything. Zilch.

It would be difficult; they need to inform the market first.

Kinda gross that all this removing flights from sale and limiting social media comments is happening before the employees are given any info at all.

Finding out from the media is disgusting.
Yep, can you imagine passengers informing them? Ouch.

The media just seems to be lots of speculation.

I guess there's a board meeting today which will make some decisions....

Where there is smoke there is fire in situations like this. There's been rumours for weeks. I agree unfortunate for the staff but it's how these things always go.

TBH given the Rex track record, perhaps management not being in charge is a better outcome for staff right now.

Well someone internally has been told. Flights don't remove themselves.

And who knows what Rex's internal systems are like. You probably need to solve a captcha to send an email. :)
Yep, also, unfortunately as this is moving so quickly, it's impossible to let ALL staff know before it leaks to the media. That's the nature of it when administrators step in :/

I think it is clear that PAG is going for a full takeover. This is their chosen way to do it.

This could actually be the brith of a much more competitive REX.

There was a notice to crew yesterday that this was all ‘speculation only’

If I were the lessors of the 737 (who assuming administration occurs) will lose significant money, if PAG just restart the next day then I’d be hesitant to continue a lease with them. Sure they may be more competitive but just like Virgin there are some who will never work with them again given they can’t forget the money they’ve lost.
